Joe Rooke

Joe Rooke began playing eRepublik on April 26th, 2011. After coming across several eRepublik wiki pages from past campaigns between the UK and the Irish, he was brought to the eRepublik site itself. He started out as a mere 2-Clicker, preferring to learn the game mechanics as they came. He received a lot of useful information about the game from Emergy Maxfell.
After being led to the eUK forums and their IRC channel; Joe was eventually convinced by Mini Munch to join the Navy. Having lived off his own grafting up until this point, he soon settled in. This is when Joe became a bigger part of the UK (see Military Career).
After several months of playing Joe became quite the quiet chap, preferring to keep to himself than be one of the chatty UK players both ingame and in IRC. He chose to stay away from politics, disliking the "dog-eat-dog" world that he saw it as. He has chiefly been involved in the military, shooting up in Military Rank considerably quicker than most and gaining several medals thanks to the help of bazookas. Joe has been one of the most active players in the UK, spending a lot of time talking to his friends on IRC and fighting hard at times that mattered he has been a great asset to the UK. However, as he had real-life ambitions that would soon take over his life, he would have to become a two-clicker at best.
Military Career
Joe Rooke has had a long and very successful career in the armed forces, starting off as just an "average Joe" he rose through the ranks and would soon spend months on end in constant high command positions. Joe Rooke's military life started when joined the Royal Navy where he instantly impressed. Staying active and hunting for promotion whenever possible, he finally got the chance when Kdoggroundtwo brought back ships for the Forum. Joe Rooke finally got the promotion he deserved. As the days drew on he, along with many others, began to lose interest and become bored. On day 1318, he terminated his position as the ship captain. On the same day, he joined the private Military Unit 1st Armoured. Making friends and playing a key part in building bonds with another private Military Unit, 40th Commando, he continued being noticed. Sometime after however, he left 1st Armoured and joined 40th Commando. Unfortunately, 40 Commando was disbanded a short time after he joined, after which he joined the Royal Air Force.
His success continued yet again, after the Commanding Officer resigned from his position, Joe Rooke became commander. As the former commander had done a stand up job at growing the RAF into being one of the best branches in the United Kingdom's Armed Forces, Joe Rooke worked hard to continue its success. He succeeded, the RAF's success grew and the RAF became the biggest and most active branch, even surpassing the Special Forces, after the RAF was disbanded he became the Commanding Officer of the Royal Navy. After debate as to whether people were staying in the Navy purely because of its name, the Navy then had its name changed. This allowed people who were active to pursue the better supply option delivered in the British Army. Until it was disbanded he held the position as sole Commander of the British Army Reserves.
After the Army Reserves were disbanded, at the request of its former commander, Alfagrem, Joe Rooke then took charge of his party's military unit; the Royal Navy (commonly known as UKPP Royal Navy). He spent several months working hard to get more members active, holding strikes that dealt heavy blows to the enemy, namely Canada (the Royal Navy lost them a precious resource bonus from France). His biggest campaign, named Operation Naval Supremacy (see below) intended to increase activity the most he had ever intended. As of April 7th 2012 (Day 1600 ingame) Joe Rooke resigned as Commanding Officer and handed command of the unit over to Garth Lidlington, since Joe had real-life issues that prevented him from continuing his service, and since he had plans of moving countries.
His last known military affiliation was with the unit known as the Maid Cafe.
A brief list of Joe Rooke's military positions held, with reason/s for leaving in []:
- Navy captain [unofficial ship]
- RAF CO [branch was closed]
- Royal Navy CO [branch name was changed]
- Army Reserves CO [branch was closed]
- UKPP Royal Navy CO [resigned]
- Captain of the HMS Claymore
- Able Rate of the Royal Navy
Operation Naval Supremacy was a plan created and led by Joe Rooke at the encouragement of current UKPP Party President, Sir Nick. Beforehand, Joe had already worked towards a plan that would create a general increase in activity on both the forums and the UKPP IRC channel, however with the PP and several other folks behind him he worked hard to create a plan that was certain to be successful at increasing activity. The plan had several key components that would attract players of all kinds, i.e. those that only cared for the military, or economics, or politics.
To attract the military-minded folk he planned on creating a rank structure within the unit that would allow those with potential to rise through the ranks, much like Joe had himself. It would also increase communication between the unit, spread work and make things easier to maintain/ However the economic changes brought in by the eRepublik admins stopped players from being allowed to see each other's land. This meant that Joe could not see who were "official" (supplied) members of the unit.
This was not the only thing planned however, he managed to create a message that spanned across all aspects of eRepublik. Proceeding to mass message the whole unit and continuously messaging new recruits he was able to increase activity on the IRC. Forum activity only increased slightly as the lack of a rank structure created a huge problem in the plan. Joe Rooke then decided to put all his current military knowledge into Military Guides, he created a guide for beginners and a guide that dealt with a bit more in-depth military knowledge. He also started posting orders on the forums, but it didn't achieve anything. His guides were praised and requested to be put into articles by mickcain, a member of the party and military unit. The plan was largely a success, increasing activity on the most important form of communication used; IRC.
Battle Honour
On day 1,632 Joe Rooke was awarded the Ultramilitia Honour from missingno for his efforts in the Resistance War in Yorkshire and Humberside against the United States of America.
God of War
Joe Rooke achieved the rank of God of War approximately 9:50 eRepublik time (17:50GMT) on day 1,832.
Joe Rooke's economy
Joe Rooke has never been too concerned with the economic module, although he eventually sold his entire stash of Q5 tanks so he could build Saltpeter mines to generate a higher income. Joe's current land consists of several Q2 food companies along with food raw companies to allow for self-sufficient production, and Saltpeter mines. Until gold prices become higher, it is unlikely that he will continue building resource buildings to help him become self-sufficient monetarily.
Joe Rooke's move to Japan
During his past, Joe had gone through phases of doubt with the country he resided in. It was always his decision that should he move, it would be to Japan. This happened once again fairly recently (around day 1600). Due to poor circumstances in the UK, Joe Rooke decided that it was time to pack up his things and go ahead with the move to Japan, where he plans on residing permanently. On the 26th April 2012, day 1619 ingame, Joe's citizenship request was accepted. Originally, Joe had applied some 15 days before, however, Japan's lack of Congress prevented any requests from being accepted. He was open to joining a unit native to Japan as he would like to see it liberated from their current oppressors; Taiwan. He has not joined any political party yet.
Eventually, after many requests from old friends and an unfortunate circumstance in the UK, he returned for a very brief time (this was also a time when he had recently gained more time to play as he had been very busy in real life). However, it was short-lived. He reapplied for citizenship in Japan and was soon accepted. It was his decision to reside in Japan permanently this time, and that if things ever didn't work out there, that it would be the end of his eRepublik life altogether.
He was affiliated with the Moriya Jinja.
