Kiwi Social Democrats
Kiwi Social Democrats (October 2010-February 2011) was a political party formally active in New Zealand politics. It was a centre-left party founded in months prior to the creation of NZ. The party had early success in NZ but slowly declined until its final party president (PP) dissolved the party. It remained a top-five party throughout its existence.
The Kiwi Social Democrats (KSD) was founded in October 2010, as the successor to the Galactic Empire Party. It attempted to position itself as a centre-left political party. It brought together a wide range of politicians from a host of different nations who came to NZ after its creation. It was an active member of the Provisional Government.
After electing former Canadian politician Adasko as PP, the KSD took part in the October 2010 Parliamentary elections. It won 2 of 40 seats and supported Calbe in the November Presidential elections. Some of its members joined the Cabinet like Adasko, Jamarcus, Bass Junkie and Darkmantle.
In the December Presidential election the party supported Peace 'n' Prosperity Party (PnPP) candidate Fionia. In the subsequent Cabinet of Don KronoX (Aotaroa), KSD member Darkmantle was appointed Minister of Finance. Also in December, former Kiwi People's Party member Gabrielle won the PP over former Aotearoa member DonRizla. This contest was the first to feature two candidates from outside the KSD.
Only days into the KronoX Presidency scandal broke when “Darkmantle”, no longer a fan of the Aotearoa led government, withheld the passwords to the “central-bank” from President KronoX, leading to his dismissal and NZ’s entire treasury behind shut off from the government.
KronoX and the Aotearoa Parliament ignored these actions and ended up setting up a new “reserve bank”. Darkmantle, eventually fled NZ for UK
In the December Parliamentary, the KSD surprised many by winning 6 of 40 seats; replacing the PnPP as the largest non-Aotearoa party in the Parliament. However, the party was plagued by issues over internal management and organizing. In the January Presidential election, it nominated Bass Junkie for President, he came third with 8% of the vote.
In his third go at it, DonRizla finally became PP on January 15th. The new PP took the time to attempt to reorganize. In the January Parliamentary elections, the KSD dropped to 4 out of 40 seats. The new PP also had KSD break its traditional role of not backing Aotearoa and endorsed Koska de STRAH in the February Presidential election, which he won with 66% of the vote.
In February, the party elected Jockaye, another former member of Aotearoa, as the PP. One of the first acts made by the new PP was to officially dissolve the KSD and launch a new party Ranginui. This marked the official end of the KSD.
