How to communicate and advertise yourself

Profile

Your profile is your appearance in The New World, the way that other citizens will see you in game. There are many different features in your profile that are vital in making your citizen completely unique to you, things that can make a citizen stand out and be seen in the big world of eRepublik.

Main Features

Location : This is your current residence in eRepublik. It displays both national and regional residence, both of which can be clicked on to give more information on said location.
Citizenship : Citizenship is your citizen's current national affiliation. This entitles you to vote in Congressional, President and Party Elections as well as allowing you to join a political party. Citizenship to a country is automatically received if it's your country of birth, but for other countries you must apply. You may only hold citizenship to one nation at a time.
National Rank : This is where your citizen ranks in the country in terms of experience points.
Forfeit Points : These are the number of points you have received for misconduct in eRepublik (such as for flaming or posting abusive content). They will be cleared eventually, but 5/5 means a permanent ban.
Accounts : This shows you the amount and different types of currency you have. The default when you first arrive in eRepublik will be GBP and Gold, but this can be expanded upon by obtaining foreign currency via working in a different country or purchase via the Monetary Markets.
Inventory : This is the display of what items you currently possess. If you buy food, gifts or other things off the market, they will show up here. The default max inventory is 20 but this can be upgraded to 50 with the "Extra Storage" purchase.
Get Extra Storage : This will allow you to hold 50 items in your inventory and allow you up to 10 shouts a day.

Career Tab

Achievements : These are trophies that can be earned by doing things such as reaching Strength Levels and working for 30 days in a row. Each trophy can be won multiple times.
Employee : This shows your current workplace in eRepublik.
Party Member : This shows your current political party, which you are eligible to join at Level 7.
Press Director : This shows the current newspaper you own. Newspapers can be bought at Level 8 for a price of 2 Gold.
Rank : This shows your current military rank. Higher ranks are earned by doing an increased amount of damage.

Bio Tab

Wellness : Wellness is a measurement of how healthy your citizen is on a scale of 1-100. Wellness is one of the most important elements of the game, as high wellness means you are more productive in the workplace meaning you are likely to receive higher wages. The wellness guide explains more about this.

Avatars
Avatars are the most customisable element of the eRepublik Profile Page, an image that represents you in the game. Avatars can only be a .jpg file, and must be uploaded from your computer (avatars cannot be linked from another website). To upload an avatar, first find a picture that you like and download it to your computer (remember that using porn as your avatar can result in a suspension). Next Log In to eRepublik and access your profile page by clicking on your citizen's name on the left of the main page. On your profile page, you should see a link titled "Edit Profile"; click on it. From here, go to citizen avatar and click "Browse". Then search for the image you want and click "Open". After this is finished click the "Make Changes" button to confirm your new avatar. It may take a while for your avatar to appear at first, but be sure that is uploading!

Shouts
Shouts are an effective way of relaying short, concise messages to your friends in eRepublik. They are more effective than pming, as they are sent to everyone on your friends list automatically saving time on sending individual messages to every single person you know. Shouts are similar to Tweets in the sense that they have a character limit (140 characters), and are only meant to be used for short messages. The default amount of shouts you can have per day is 3, but this can be upgraded to 10 shouts per day with the "Extra Storage" addition.

To send a shout, log in to eRepublik and stay on the main page. On the centre-right of the page, you see a large column with the heading "Shouts". Here, you can not only send tweets, but also see the tweets of your fellow friends, countrymen and all international tweets. You should see a box with a header saying "Shout Something". Type anything in here and then press the "Shout" button. You should now see your shout below beside your friends' fellow shouts. While shouts can be useful, be careful not to transmit sensitive information over this medium.

Newspapers

The latest news and events are always displayed on your citizen's homepage. Articles are one of the most important ways of communicating in game. This list of newspapers to subscribe to is a selection of good newspapers from around the world so you can have interesting and informative updates about anything from the latest government schemes to the informative eRepublik statistics. The important government newspapers are in bold:

Your Newspaper

If you set up a newspaper, maybe one day you will have the most subscribed newspaper in the eWorld, an honour currently held by Bogdan_L. It is up to you to think of what to do in your articles but this guide will tell you how to create a newspaper and how to write and format articles.

Create a Newspaper

To create a newspaper, you need 2 Gold. Go to My Places>Newspaper and then click create new. You will then be able to select a newspaper name and avatar. Your newspaper will be automatically located in your country of citizenship.

Article Formatting

To write an article, go to the newspaper page and click write article. The newspapers use BBCode for formatting, they used to use HTML which meant you could have youtube videos and other cool things in articles however this has been disabled for the moment. The following are working codes: [img]Image Url goes here[/img] [url]Link goes here[/url] [b]Bold Text here[/b] [i]Italic Text Here[/i] [url=www.linkgoeshere.com]Link Title[/url] [url=www.linkgoesher.com][img]Image Url goes here[/img][/url] - This allows you to use the the image as a link.

Make sure you do not release spam articles or ones that aren't related to erepublik as these will be deleted and you may receive Forfeit points.

Adverts

Active adverts are displayed on the right side of all eRepublik pages. They can link to Parties, Newspapers and many other things and cost gold to put up.

Creating Adverts

To Create an advert, go to My Places>Advertising Agency and then select the language you want it in, the title, the picture and then write the text. Then you target your advert. The first step is to choose the country it is shown in (it is pointless to show adverts globally that only relate to the eUK). You then choose your audience. Remember that the better your targeting is the more you will gain from the advert. You then budget your ad. The minimum budget is 1 gold and the minimum impressions is 10000. The key is to have as high a cost per impression as possible as the CPI determines how visible your advert is. You are able to edit your campaign or stop it at any time.

Forums

The official UK forums are hosted at http://forums.erepublik.co.uk/ .

Whether you want to spend time talking about erepublik with fellow citizens in the General section discussing the latest legislation in Public Discussion to helping out the Ministries in Open Government, the forums really are the place to be. They are also essential for you to progress in erepublik, with everything from the selection of congress candidates to the military being based on the forums..

More information about the eUK forums can be found here: United Kingdom National Forums Additionally, there is the main eRepublik forum at https://www.erepublik.com/en/forum . This is where players from all around the world gather to shout at each other.

IRC

Like the forums, the United Kingdom IRC is a great place to communicate with other citizens and discuss the events and issues of the day. IRC activity is essential in any walk of life in the eUK and there are many private channels for the military, the government and political parties. You will need a registered nick to access these channels. To get one, just do /msg nickserv register EMAIL PASSWORD and wait for the email to arrive.

The IRC channel can be accessed via the forums [here], with no special setup needed or you can download an easy to use client like mIRC
. For lists of other nations irc channels, please see Community Communication.
