Richard Brophy was a citizen of USA. His death was discovered in late 2010.
In keeping with his trademark stupidity, Richard is one of the few citizens who uses his actual birth name in the game.
Politics
That Fateful Night in Alabama
As a young fawn, Richard challenged long-term politician and business leader (and former Vice-President of the USA) Moishe in the February 2009 Congressional Election for Alabama. In a stunning and crushing upset, he swept his way into Congress as a member of the United Independents Party, becoming the youngest Congressperson in USA history only 19 days into playing the game. Following a successful term in Congress, building close relationships across party lines, Richard was re-elected, and began a second term as Alabama's representative, joining the United States Workers Party briefly after re-election.
However, he soon lost his cool and decided eRepublik was for lame-o's and n00bs, ultimately resigning from Congress and returning to the blissful ignorance of life as a two-clicker. Some say he just couldn't stand the pressure. Most believe the rumors about the photographs of bound-and-gagged congressional pages were true. During his time in semi-retirement, Richard made an ass of himself on numerous occasions, earning the applause of few and the ire of many.
A New Hope for North Dakota
Deciding that 5 GOLD was worth the toils and tribulations of Congress, Richard again re-entered the political sphere as the UIP candidate in North Dakota's May 2009 election. After a vicious five-way battle, he finished in second place to political newcomer Nick Bezier. However, in defeat he saw opportunity, penning a reflection piece that found its way into the Top 5 articles on the USA homepage - a first for Richard.
Another Failure, and the Beginnings of "Attack Hungary"
June 2009 brought new opportunity - a lulz-driven attempted PTO of Hungary's fifth-largest party, SzEM. In true Brophy tradition, the endeavor was a miserable failure. The ensuing boredom of being stuck in Hungary for a few days, as Richard had stupidly applied for a job while overseas, planted seeds in his brain that would eventually blossom into a central tenet of his foreign policy.
Go West
The same month, Richard found himself in a hotly-contested race for Congress representing West Virginia. He lost in a tie.
The Failboat
The Failboat was the single greatest thing to happen in the history of eRepublik. Mere words cannot capture the miracle that was The Failboat. The Failboat must be witnessed in full stereo and technicolor.
Business
Richard is the owner of Bama Benefactions, a gift company in Alabama committed to high wages and good working conditions. In order to maximize wages for his employees, he works at an extremely reduced level of pay, giving the majority of the profits to his workers. Those interested in such a deal are welcome to message him! Yeaaaaaah, Richard's business kinda went belly-up when he decided to run for PP of SZEM in Hungary. Later on, Bama Benefactions were sold and renamed.
Military
For the first few months of his eRepublik life, Richard Brophy refused to endorse or participate in any form of combat. He's since shed such silly ideals, and is a proud member of the USA Marine Corps.
Real Life
Due to the fact that Richard stupidly used his real name when he signed-up for eRepublik, he is extremely open about his real life dealings. Currently, he is a graduate student at The University of Alabama, studying Rhetoric and Queer Theory. In addition, he coaches the Alabama Forensic Council, a co-curricular competitive speech team at UA that consistently ranks in the Top 10 nationally. Further to this, Richard teaches 100 level courses in the Communication Studies department at UA.
Real Richard was born to an English mother and Irish father. He was raised in a crappy town in the North West of England that had lost its luster shortly after the industrial era became the modern era. At 16, he moved to the United States, completing his last two years of high school in rural Michigan - a fate he would not wish on anyone. While concomitantly creating the wondrous persona he acts out in his daily life and paying far too little attention to his studies, Richard somehow ended up receiving a Bachelor of Science from Eastern Michigan University. He now sweats in the awful humidity of Dixie.
