World War V (from eRepublik Wiki Bar)

I intend to start article: World War V. Poland is now at war with France, Germany, and USA. Spain is also at war with France, Portugal (i think), and Brazil just propped a NE against them. Serbia is doing what Serbia does. Basically this is rapidly turning NWO vs TERRA, with an EDEN kicker. Major chunks of at least two of the three active alliances are going to war against each other. My question ... is there a reason we should not call it WWV so that we can pull the various sub-war articles together in real-time and work as a group so that all countries get coverage? Should we hold off on calling it WWV yet, until a few more developments happen? Who else is interested in working on this with me as a mini-project? So far I'm covering some of it at USA-Poland War. I suppose we can wait until it is over, but mining historical data gets hard if we wait too long and don't have good News coverage. --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   13:57, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

I definitely agree that it should be called World War V. I would like to help you with it, in any way I can. --Belea2008 15:22, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
+1 Although I have not kept up with war naming conventions since early 2010, by my count we should be on World War V. --Chris Stanwick 21:30, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
Im all up for helping; just tell me where you want a hand :D - John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 16:47, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
In my opinion, WWV started with the beginning of NWO and the new alliances, and will cover until EDEN/Terra/ONE collapses. ||||||Khebit TC| 17:42, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
I tend to agree with Khebit. Although unclear presented in the Wiki, World War IV - http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/World_War_IV - ended with the slow dissolution of Phoenix - http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Phoenix - (December 30 - February 24). --Belea2008 18:18, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
Interesting. I wonder one thing though.. has there not been any 'cold war' in erep? No article about that whatsoever... for example a period where a bunch of alliances were created, tension, sabotage, spy...Aryamehr Flag of Iran talk 22:39, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

If I might add in the table Belea added onto on the project, with a few changes of my own:

War Belligerents Extent Results
Start End
WWI PEACE vs ATLANTIS N/A Romanian Invasion of Hungary Beta ended Inconclusive ATLANTIS victory
Romania annexes most of Hungary, PEACE-ATLANTIS War continues into V1
WWII V1 released, ATLANTIS invasion of France ATLANTIS collapses PEACE victory
ATLANTIS invasion of Asia failure, Romanian Empire collapses, Hungary and Indonesia reach super-power status
WWIII EDEN Fortis PEACE invasion of North America PEACE collapses EDEN victory
Initial PEACE success, PEACE invasion of North America failure, Spain regains independence from France
WWIV Phoenix N/A EDEN invasion of Asia Phoenix slow dissolution EDEN Victory
EDEN invasion of Asia sucess, Indonesian Empire collapses, EDEN invasion of the United Kingdom repelled
WWV NWO Terra USA-Poland War ??? ???

Feel free to disagree with this quick analysis. The Belligerents columns don't mean to imply continuation, NWO is not a successor to Phoenix as Phoenix was to PEACE, it is just in that column.

Looking at it, the main part we are missing after The War of the Three Pillars up to now. WWIV was last seriously updated in Summer 2010. However, there hasn't really been a big invasion since then. EDEN invasion of Russia comes to mind, various attempts to invade Indonesia or the UK, there's always something going on in Australia or Germany or South America or the Balkans. Since then, though, there hasn't been any great wars like the last ones. Of course the changes to the game probably have something to do with that, but it's not my speciality. The lessoning functions of alliances too, from the great propaganda of PEACE we are now down to something like the NWO which doesn't even have a set name, logo or member list.

Finally we might be getting back to the good old days, but remember the huge fuss not to long ago about Indonesia invading the US, and the US invading Indonesia. Where did that go then? I agree that NWO vs Terra should go somewhere and WWV would be the right thing for that.--Martin23230 09:32, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

Ok, considering it seems like thing are heating up (particularly on the EDEN front), I went ahead and kicked her off ... so get it while its hot! Lets move the discussion over there. @Martin I agree with you on the Indo-USA War, which is why I didn't want to jump the gun on calling this WWV, but in this case, unlike Indo vs. USA, the alliances are engaging and Indo wasn't technically a NWO member - hell, even Brazil and Arge didn't get in on it. I think this one is something different and it is going somewhere, so for lack of a better term I launched it as WWV. Hope that's cool with everyone. If not, I guess we can come up with another name, particularly if this fizzles. @Aryamehr - I tried to hit on some of the "Cold War" stuff, but other than Indo-USA I couldn't think of much more to add. If you want to throw some ideas about the cold war aspect, I'd say give the Background section a look and see if you can spice it up. I'm moving over to Talk:World_War_V, see ya there! --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   10:08, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

This is the "timetable" of what should be considered the WWV (not just what is happening now):

  1. Poland rejects the MPP with Romania, then signs an alliance with Hungary.
  2. Rumors of the creation of the new alliance (High-5). Romania signs MPP with Brazil and fights against Spain.
  3. Spain signs MPP with Hungary. In an EDEN Council, Poland leaves permanently the alliance and Spain temporaly.
  4. Meanwhile, wars between Romania and Hungary and Serbia and Croatia continue. Here, we should notice the events of BiH. MPPs between the H5 countries are signed. In Poland, there is a clash between Government and some militias.
  5. PanAm created: several countries from both Phoenix and EDEN enter this new alliance, whis is supposed to be a "good friend" of EDEN.
  6. Incident with iNCi-Greece-Turkey-Boycott and stuff: Turkey is forced to leave PanAm and goes to the NWO sphere. Greece, great friend of Spain and Poland, goes with Bulgaria and Romania.
  7. Swaps-Cold War: Serbia approaches UK, Poland travels across the US, Indonesia attacks Hawaii, RWs in Bosnia, war? in Ukraine between Russia (PanAm) and Romania (EDEN), iNCi appears as a major political power in the USA, conflict in Orient between new countries.
  8. The beginning of the great war: Hungary and Serbia advance into Romania (that wants to arrive to Saudi Arabia to recreate his empire) and Croatia (that is trying to free BiH regions). "Gangbang" to Poland and Spain by France, USA, Russia, Portugal, Brazil and Germany. FYROM attacks Italy. RWs in Bolivia, Peru and Colombia supported by Spanish militias to finish the Argentinian domination over South-America. Something more? Add if I forget something :)

Well, that's my opinion, the beginning was a bit long time ago :/ We should add dates to everything and that stuff :D ||||||Khebit TC| 17:29, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

Exact dates on some of these might be hard to find, but otherwise is good background. got links? --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   10:02, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

WWV

Just wanted to kick off some thoughts on organizing this mini-project. Should be fun! At this point I'm not sure how to tackle it, but I'm thinking the easiest way is to break it up into theaters and fill in from there. Or we could go country by country. Or maybe even a hybrid of both. I need some help digging into the actual initial conflict with (I believe) France, and then later Germany. Dates, targets, etc. This section needs some fleshing out. I've been working the USA angle over on USA-Poland War and I'd suggest we get pages for Poland-France War and Second Poland-Germany War and Second Spain-France War to track those parts of the war too. Also, need to get some more details on what Serbia, Brazil, Spain, are doing - not too mention other Terra and NWO members. EDEN could use some more coverage too I think. Anyway, lets see where this thing goes. Anyone know some Newspapers with coverage, particularly outside the USA media? So far I'm using: New guy and EDEN releases. I suggest we try to build a list of solid reporters. Whatcha using? --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   09:46, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

Eden

Can someone assist with the EDEN v NWO timeline? Republic of Macedonia (FYROM)-Italy War or is it Italy-Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) War?

what about Serbia v Croatia? and Serbia vs Romania? that area is constantly churning, and has been for a while, so when/where do we include it as part of EDEN's involvement. I think we need a timeline. --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   12:45, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

I don't really like the Country X-Country Y War format for everything tbh. It makes the history look boring and mundane. If we have to, however, just call it the Italy-Macedonian War :/ - John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 19:38, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
Jan, it is not set in stone.... that is the standard naming policy until any contributor proposes a better name for a specific war.... as in, the majority of wars are not "epic"... thus they are between... Country X-Country Y War... the ideal option is to find information and to "brand" each war... with its own name... if you have any suggestions regarding the names of any wars, just share them and we will discuss them. --Belea2008 20:41, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
Expanding the Style Guide to cover names of Wars would be a good idea. If you go to Wars and look at the hidden list there most of them follow that formula, as it was generated by the template. Things like the Ibero-American War, the Central European War are all much better. The problem being that wars in eRepublik are incredibly cyclical. Other than the unusual case of the Romanian-Hungarian War, most wars have been started and stopped over and over. How many times have Greece and Turkey invaded each other, or France and Spain?
The way I see it, we have types of wars, just as in the real world. We have wars that are stand alone between two countries, wars that involve several countries but not alliances (the Middle East War is a good recent example), wars that are part of some major Alliance War and of course training wars.
We need to distinguish between Wars as used in real life and wars in eRepublik. In eRepublik, a "war" is strictly 1-on-1. That fits the X-Y War. However, some times we get several countries all trying together for the same goal, such as the Middle East War. Then we get campaigns, that I like to refer to as ATLANTIS invasion of France, or PEACE invasion of North America or EDEN invasion of the United Kingdom. Then these campaigns build up to the whole "World War", just like the Pacific Ocean theatre and the Balkans Campaign and the Battle of Britain etc are individual campaigns within World War II. I think we need a group to go through the archives and break up the wars into these categories.--Martin23230 21:38, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
I agree the naming is kinda blah, but that is the current framework of the MoS regarding naming wars, so that's why I plugged those in as examples. Personally I like the idea of giving them sexy names, but nPOV kinda forces us to keep them bland. For instance, Second USA-Mexico War was always called Operation: Spring Break in the USA, but I doubt it was called that in Mexico. We have to be careful about arbitrarily assigning them names, but if you can find a name that has some consensus for any of these conflicts, by all means run with it. Don't forget, we can always redirect if a better name comes up. For example, in RL, World War I wasn't called that until after WWII, and even WWII wasn't called that by many of the people fighting it at the time. But I do like your thinking, just not sure how to establish a consensus on naming a war that doesn't really have one to players, and if it does is, may not be acceptable to the opposing nation. We're a little stuck. Granted the plugged links above look particularly bad because of Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) being such a large formal name. But ... this is a SERIOUS point of contention because of RL naming controversy over RoM(FYROM). Hell! The RLife UN and EU are having problems with that one, and I ain't touching it with a 10-foot pole. But it does make a good argument for a more colorful name in this case. --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   09:20, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
For instance, Second USA-Mexico War was always called Operation: Spring Break - then I would go with this semi-policy; call it "Operation Spring Break" (I removed the ":" because the Wiki uses those for establishing name spaces, and to avoid any issues in the future if we wish to create the "Operation" name space). So.... let's call "Operation Spring Break" (because after all, that was the "secret code name" given by the attacker and if the opposite side disagrees - in this case, Mexico, we'll reach consensus in individual cases what to do). --Belea2008 12:37, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

Polish Toast? In my opinion, this should be the beginning of the big wars in Europe (as the wars that were taking place before already existed), so it's the "fact" that marks the beginning of the attacks in Spain, Poland, Germany and France. ||||||Khebit TC| 17:33, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
Germany and Poland agreed on a NAP and Rental agreement [1] for a rental of three German regions for 50g per month. Adminchanges with necessary Tradingroutes caused trouble for Poland to gain the bonus of rented regions. They sent an ultimatum for Germany to hand out another 2 regions for the same price and Germany didnt agree. That caused the NE of Poland against Germany. As a reaction to that Germany joined Terra [2] and started signing MPPs with Terra states. To divide the strength of Poland, all these NE-Laws of USA, France and Russia were started. -- Freiheitskaempfer 20:53, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

USA-Poland War

If it's considered the beginning of WWV, why is it it's own article, instead of being part of this one? Just wondering :) - John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 23:21, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

I started it off as a separate article mostly because I just wasn't sure if the WWV name would be appropriate at the time, and I find it easier building these while they are ongoing because we don't always have access to events after-the-fact. Also, some could argue that other areas were the actual start such as France v Poland, or even some of the long-ongoing EDEN v NWO wars in Eastern Europe. The official start of WWV is potentially something of a debate. However, with Poland v USA, I would say that it was the first connected war that jumped the Regional line and spread outside of Europe - hence Inter-regional or (global?). In real life, World War II is considered a global war, but there were in fact parts of the world that never saw actual combat. All RL world wars are kind of a misnomer when you think about it, and ultimately that war was more about three theaters; Pacific/Asia, Europe, and North Africa.
Anyway, I was also thinking it would be best to break the coverage up into separate wars (this country vs. that country, so that each independent war could get its own coverage and include things like a battle list and more country specific info, should some editor be more in-touch with a given conflict. If we included everything (even at this point) in a single article, it might get a bit too big and less detailed and a WoT. Kinda of using wikipedia: World War II as a model, note how it has quite a few Main Article links. I was thinking maybe WWV would serve as a hub for the various child articles, in which we could put a note like ".... was a part of World War V". I've seen it in a few of the other war articles that link to previous world wars. Was hoping WWV would serve as a "quick" read and if a reader wanted to go deeper they could check the child pages. Make sense? I guess we could merge, just don't know what is best at this point. --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   08:24, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
I like as example World War III, because you can see in the same page everything that happened in those times, because averything was related (Spain attacked France not 4tehlulz, but to block them in their way across Canada). ||||||Khebit TC| 10:11, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
I like it too, but it does have a WoT tag on it (don't know for how long). Summarizing each country war down to a paragraph or two under their own header with a Main Article tag still sounds better to me, but I'm flexible. I just don't like WoTs on wikis and think each page should be as thrifty as possible so people actually read them. If I see a page and scroll down for what looks like a long read, I get bored. Linking helps fight that. --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   11:02, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
Eh, fair enough. If we can somehow ensure that each sub-war article shows connection to WWV, then I guess it couldn't hurt...- John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 11:52, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

IMO only "big wars" should have their own page, I mean, Spanish-Portuguese war is not too important, Brazilian-Spanish one is. So, everything in the general page and big wars having their own page. ||||||Khebit TC| 15:19, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

IMO we would be opening a can of worms, because every country considers herself important; thus war in which that country being involved being important. I think that the current "procedure" (documenting all wars) is all right, because, after all "big wars" gets higher importance and time of the the Wiki contributors. If a contributor wishes to invest time and energy in documenting a not "big war", he is free to do so.... --Belea2008 20:48, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

Theaters

Ok, following the theater model (if that is cool) we can cover Western Europe under the temporary name NWO Invasion of Western Europe, or should we stick with Poland-France War, Second Poland-Germany War, Second Spain-France War?

In Eastern Europe, do we want to lump them all (including Romania) into Fourth Balkan War, or should Hungary-Romania be disconnected? Same for Italy? or split the three out to Republic of Macedonia (FYROM)-Italy War, Serbia-Croatia War, and Hungary-Romania War. Apparently none of these are taken (surprisingly), but as mentioned could be a little dull sounding. Or do we go with NWO Invasion of Eastern Europe? These are just ideas, but I'd like to get some of this stuff covered in depth and we kinda need a name by consensus. Remember, nothing is in stone and we can always change it (with a little work) if need be. --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   14:14, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

Just saying: it's Third Spain-France War. Also, I propose "Fourth Balkan War", as most of the countries involved are in the same zone and their small wars in itself (I mean, always the same, nothing new in the horizon) aren't too much for a page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Khebit (talkcontribs) 18:25, March 27, 2011
You think we should include Russia and Italy as apart of 4BW, then? --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   10:35, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
I would go for puting Italy in the wars that took place in Western Europe, even if FYROM is at the Balkans (Poland is in Europe, but USA's invasion of their colonies is the North-American theatre). Russia should be included as they attacked Poland, but their war just finished as there is no common border, so it isn't too important. If we must put it in a place, we should put it in the "Polish Toast" page. ||||||Khebit TC| 15:37, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

Why's it even being called Polish Toast? :P Operation French Toast was the ATLANTIS operation name for it, so I can understand that, but I've never heard of this being officially called Polish Toast. As such, I dont see it proper to call the article that. - John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 21:21, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Calling Poland's invasion(s) "Polish Toast" is news to me as well. I see where it might be coming from (homage, etc.), but I've never heard it called that in Terra media. Is that what the Poles are calling it or somthing? --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   08:38, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
In fact it's just how I call it LOL but I just use it to refer to all the wars of Poland during WWV, not to call an operation or something. ||||||Khebit TC| 19:50, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
Ok, since you got Thrid Spain-France already up and running, do we want to include the other nations like Germany and Brazil? I have been tracking some of them through my project page, but I was including the Polish actions as well, not just Spanish, because they are linked attacks on France. Should we consider a different name to include Poland? It is essentially the same part of WWV (i.e France). I was going to lump Germany, France, Brazil, UK, and now USA into one theater (also to include Italy). But we can break it up I guess. What you guys think? BTW, I like your Attacker-Region-Defender format much better. --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   12:46, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
Well, at the moment I'm documentating all the wars related to Spain (USA, BR, PT, FR) and I'm going to put them in different pages and then all of them in a general one (Operation NESI as it's called in Spain). Relationships between different wars should go in WWV page, but I don't really think we should put battles between other countries in specific war pages (Like Third Spain-France War) ||||||Khebit TC| 19:19, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Why did Spain start it?

  • "damage drainer" - in order for Spain to win more easily this: http://www.erepublik.com/en/wars/show/4391 - specifically this campaign: http://www.erepublik.com/en/military/battlefield/5294
  • "economic damage" - if the RW is successful, Brazil will lose the work bonus for these 3 regions: Northern Cape, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal (because of the "connection to capital" game mechanics system)
  • "geo politics" (alliances) - until this RW, South Africa and Brazil were in "peace treaties" (Brazil to keep the 3 regions of South Africa in exchange for rent); after this RW, the majority of South Africa active citizens are moving to Brazil in order to fight in the RW and free the region (basically, it is highly probable that those "peace negotiations" are over) - comment by a South Africa citizen: "Its a smart move by Spain, and also helps our relations with them, and kills our relations with Brazil. NWO must want us! Or they just don't want Brazil to have us..."

The Poland-German war article is long overdue. I've been tracking it loosely, but before I start that article I need some history. What # is this one? "Puppet states"

Just saying I'm against calling them "puppets": this countries have players, and if they aren't srtong enough to fight against USA f.ex., it's normal that they do what their allies ask them. Not enough reasons to call them "puppets". ||||||Khebit TC| 16:38, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

I don't see the problem :P - John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 17:13, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
It's not directed at the people. A "puppet state" is a legitimate political term. Essentially these are collaborating countries who do not belong to a given alliance, and do not openly engage in hostilities, but still are involved in some way. They are essentially used by the primary belligerents to achieve their goals. If not for the belligerents, these countries probably wouldn't be getting involved. Montenegro is certainly a puppet state in this affair and it seems Moldova as well. Cyprus? I honestly don't know. And Mexico is gonna flip to Co-belligerent in a few days I suspect. And in all truth, they really are more or less bullied into the positions they are in, if not outright PTOed. Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   17:38, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

ABC

Is ABC allied/aligned with ONE? Just a little confused. Wondering if we should move 1BalticW to the non-aligned section. Though it does seem to be ABC vs EDEN, but Terra states are also MPPing with ABC. It seems that Russia and Ukraine (both EDEN) are attacking ABC. The only relation I've found is that ABC attacked Finland (EDEN too) and they may be freeing Belarus not to help them, but to f*ck ABC as their vengeance. ||||||Khebit TC| 03:58, 30 April 2011 (PDT)
I read in the Russian press that there was some agreement between Russia and Belarus- Russia would help Belarus free itself and it will rent a grain region to Russia. Considering that ABC are now in a war with both EDEN and Terra countries and have ONE MPPs i guess they could be considered a pro-ONE alliance. Icon-Bulgaria.png V3n0M93 | Talk 04:09, 30 April 2011 (PDT)
Alright, looks that way. We can put ABC back in the list as being a ONE co-belligerent if you guys think its appropriate. Wish there was a way to have three or four columns in that war template, but it would probably look too busy anyway. If someone decides to track this in a separate article, or as an extension of First Baltic War, let me know. Considering that area is heating up, it might be worth following. Sweden just went into Northern Russia too. http://www.erepublik.com/en/military/battlefield/6014. Looks like the first time Sweden formally engaged as a ONE member, so I think we'll be seeing even more movement in that area. It still seems to fit under a First Baltic War title, but I dunno, maybe it could be spliced. What you guys think? -- Flag-USA.jpg Citizen 6 Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   05:09, 30 April 2011 (PDT)
Just one thing to clear up, Russia is Terra, Ukraine is EDEN. -- Icon-Austria.png Mikhail Alexander 05:34, 30 April 2011 (PDT)
Yup ;-). Also after looking the situation over, I think we will see two significant wars in the region. The first, likely an extension of First Baltic War, involving Ukraine and maybe a bit of Russia and Belarus against ABC. The second, being a joint Russia and China counter to the Swedish attack. Its all in the same area. Considering the flash point is N. Russia, I was thinking of calling the possible Swedish-Russia-China front as the White Sea War should anything come of it - and I think it will. How's that sound? Maybe the Ukraine-Belarus-Russia stuff could be inserted into First Baltic, unless you guys think that one stands well enough on its own. -- Flag-USA.jpg Citizen 6 Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   06:32, 30 April 2011 (PDT)
Nevermind, what I thought was going to happen hasn't, and who knows if it will. Instead I propose we start a new one altogether, though I would really like something a little more unique sounding name, Second Baltic War is the safest title. Open to more creative names. Anyone? Anyway, I started an informal track over HERE (feel free to update it until we get an article up). This one is gonna be tricky, because we are looking at 4 (ABC/ONE) and 3 (Terra/EDEN) nations, all in direct conflict. Might even get bigger in the future. Could use some help updating this one, and making sure I got it all straight. -- Flag-USA.jpg Citizen 6 Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   11:08, 1 May 2011 (PDT)

I know nothing more about this and hope someone can fill in the details. -- Icon-Canada.png Rowan Quigley 09:53, 18 April 2011 (UTC)

Might be worth keeping an eye on as part of the non-aligned section. Neither country are in an alliance-stack at this point as far as I know. Could be Indo taking advantage of the larger war, but I doubt part of a larger global strategy. --Icon-USA.png Citizen 6  Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   10:14, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
Well Indonesia is a Non-Aligned member of NWO and Australia is a member of EDEN so its technically part of World War V as well as a misunderstanding that has been around since the beginning of the game back in December 2007. I'll make the Australia-Indonesia War page and keep it updated for now, even if it isn't part of the war, it will still be good to add for events happening during the wat but not technically part of it. -- Icon-Canada.png Rowan Quigley 01:03, 19 April 2011 (UTC)

Eventually it will probably be worth noting as Serbia-Russia War. Word is that Serbia is planning an attempt to push through Russia, hoping to get at the western USA. Bulgarian Burgas is to be used as long as the RW fails. But chances are they will run into China and Russia defense, so it should be an interesting fight. Serbia-Russia should launch in couple of days if Serbia holds Burgas and will attack North Caucasus. Asia is about to catch on fire. Nah, Russia is Terra and the MPP is likely because EDEN-Terra is finally getting their agreements in-line. Beside Russia saw the attack coming. I doubt the motivation was to clear Bulgaria, Russia don't have that kind of muscle by themselves. It was a defensive MPP, which isn't helping so far. -- Flag-USA.jpg Citizen 6 Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   03:03, 20 April 2011 (PDT)

Problems with battle template

See: http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/China-Iran_War#Battle_List

As you may see, the table is really broken (I think that it's because of the results column) and, the Day template is broken too (See the last date: Dec 31, 3031; Day 1246). Solutions? ||||||Khebit TC| 03:13, 19 April 2011 (PDT)

I think it is a maintenance thing, but idk. But tbh I was getting a bit tired of the day format inputing anyway, I normally don't use Day, I use date and was getting hung up on having to look up each day #. If we can put in the mm//dd/yyyy date then it outputs a day - and date - notation, I'd prefer that better. Anyway, we might have to go back to the manual input of the day if the problem continues. The "victor flag" flag overlay (is that what you are talking about?) has a simple fix to reformat it. The header needs to have the column width constrained, including date. I brought it up on Template talk:Battle Row/Header, but didn't actually change it because I was thinking maybe Jan (or someone else) would want to look it over first. We will, however, run into a similar problem whenever the Region name is too long and it pushes to two rows. Same thing might happen occasionally when "xxxxxxx Resistance" becomes too long as well. Might have to tweak the header to get it optimal. -- Flag-USA.jpg Citizen 6 Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   05:09, 19 April 2011 (PDT)

But that was a couple of moth ago. I have no idea what the current situation is there. Icon-Bulgaria.png V3n0M93 | Talk 05:56, 23 April 2011 (PDT)
They are trying to push them out of their regions, as they seem to be aproaching ONE. Belea could surely tell us more :) ||||||Khebit TC| 09:26, 23 April 2011 (PDT)
South Africa - Brazil history goes way back to the 1st PTO (like two years ago) IIRC. They made some sort of deal, then Brazil broke it, and they've been p much enemies since. However, SA have constantly gone back to Brazil asking for new deals, only for them to constantly fail to live up to em. It doesnt help that SA barely have any real allies to live up to. During the hungarian PTO (most recent), there were plans for Brazil to wipe the country, to allow for open citizenship before congress elections. If memory serves me right, that didn't happen (at least at that time), but they did rent 3/4 regions from SA. - John F Baker Icon-UK.png Talk/Royal Navy 03:29, 2 May 2011 (PDT)

Battle for Serbia does sound a little better, but I think EDEN invasion of Serbia is better, because it follows the same pattern as ONE invasion of France and ONE invasion of Bulgaria. Dragi concetăţeni!

Fellow citizens!

Using the current situation and war from media and politics, in which both parties and the mass media from Hungary are preoccupied with war, as well as the fact that no party from the old government had any candidate for the presidency, I managed to win the elections. It was an elaborated action and meticulously planned for 2 months, the outcome being a success.

I'm using this opportunity (In this way), I wish to thank all the Romanians for their offered support. Thousands thanks to the persons which "worked" in secret, without any small possibility to affirm themselves (to reveal themselves), to brag that they "bear a bob" to (probably) the biggest project in eRepublik history. You are my real heroes!

În câteva zile voi anunța noul guvern Românesc.

In a few days I will announce the Romanian government.

Mii de mulțumiri din partea viitorului Voievod al României Mari Verzi, mobra.

Thousands thanks from the part of the future Voivode of Big Green Romania, mobra.

[Ungurii sunt foarte revoltați, nu prea înțeleg, deci am decis să traduc și pentru ei.]

The Hungarians are outraged, they don't understand, thus I decided to translate (the article) for them.

ONE World Tour? It could be a name for this part of the WWV, in which ONE is definitely winning. ||||||Khebit TC| 08:41, 11 June 2011 (PDT)
hmmm ... should we cover more than France under that name, or simply reference it as the name of this ONE offensive on future articles? A name like "World Tour" would make for a big article, but we could do it that way. Obviously a US invasion is the goal, so once they reach Brittany, then Poland will likely hop to USA and leave Hungary to cover their flank, who will likely continue 2-O-FR. I suppose at that point we could merge USA-Spain War (starting on invasion day) into a full ONE offensive called World Tour. Besides, US-Sp is getting kinda of big anyway. You want to fold France, US, and Canada into a single World Tour article? Not opposed to it, but its gonna be monster. We will likely have Poland, Spain, Sweden, (Hungary/Poland v France), and USA & Canada all in one war page. Not to mention a potential involvement by Turkey and/or China and/or Indo. Smells like Second Baltic again, and that one got a little hard to follow (at least for me). If we go that route, I suggest we go back to doing fronts, because the "by day" approach seems only to work if it is a short war, and this invasion likely won't be short - that is if the US actually starts fighting for a change. I think everyone is on vacation, or the changes ticked some people off, but I guess we will see. -- Flag-USA.jpg Citizen 6 Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   09:53, 11 June 2011 (PDT)
Then let's start with the wars separately (or by attacked countries) and if a major invasion of the U.S. comes, see if we can do a huge page with all the information. ||||||Khebit TC| 11:08, 11 June 2011 (PDT)
Sounds good, Poland should be coming in couple of days. But Sweden-Canada War is already an ongoing invasion of N.America and Spain has already reached Colorado. Should Poland be the trigger for the new uber-front article? I mean, technically a ONE invasion is already happening, so we could already go ahead. Though I suppose it could also trigger when Sweden attacks the US and instead of opening a front in US-Sp we will just discontinue that war and direct it to World Tour. I say basically once another ONE country joins the US-Sp war we should do it. Meanwhile I think Sweden-Canada War could use some coverage until/if it happens. -- Flag-USA.jpg Citizen 6 Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   12:06, 11 June 2011 (PDT)

Sweden-Canada War done (and testing my new idea to present wars =P). Note that the information for the two first battles (N.T. and Nunavut) is invented: the dates and the result are ok, but I don't know the number of rounds each country won :/ Also, both Turkey and Indo seem to be wating for PolHun if they're going to launch an attack on the U.S. ||||||Khebit TC| 03:44, 12 June 2011 (PDT)

Cool, Mik tagged it quick, but I added the flesh so he can dump the Dtag. I like the flag idea, I tried that before we standarized, but yours is much cleaner. I was actually working on finding flags (kinda at a oblique angle) that we could fade into white, then maybe even do a template header, where all we have to do is input the country name and it spits it out. Unfortunately I can't find the right type of images for all flags, I was looking for a rippling flag image for each country in the game.
One thing though ... do you know if Sw-Ca starting in Third Anglo-Irish War (or whatever we are all it)? I think Scotland was conquered, but haven't checked it. -- Flag-USA.jpg Citizen 6 Award-star-silver-3d.png Talk   04:14, 12 June 2011 (PDT)

Small update at the "Battle row" template

Or just see this

Well that's it, it shows the countries involved. You can leave a blank space, then it will show nothing (don't worry, old pages haven't suffered changes). At the moment, the variables are mainattacker (left), maindefender (right) and military conflict (when left blank, it will show as default Attacker-Defender War). Thoughts? ||||||Khebit TC| 10:51, 19 June 2011 (PDT)

Venezuela and Colombia

Another aspect of this war that has not been covered by the article is the war between Colombia and Venezuela, which is ongoing. --Jose Miguel 14:57, 16 September 2011 (PDT)
