The Third Spain-France War was a military conflict between Spain and France, that started on March 23rd and ended on April 24, 2011. It was a principle battlefield in World War V. France would fall to combined ONE forces on April 14, 2011 as a result of the combined ONE invasion of France.
The following day France would begin a series of Resistance Wars, eventually freeing its Spanish held regions.
Background
Main article: World War V
After the last Spain-France war (which ended with a Peace treaty signed by both countries), the relationship between the two countries slowly improved. Spain was invited to join the "Strasbourg Treaty" [1] and become a full ally of France, UK and Germany. However, because of the strong friendship between Spain and Poland (a traditional enemy of Germany), the Spanish government refused.
Although, both governments signed a Non-Aggression Pact intended to last for 3 months, the French government rejected it.[2]
When Terra, as a result of Poland's attack upon their German ally, opened a four front counter-attack upon Poland, Spain quickly supported Poland by attacking France. As a result, Terra allies were drawn deeper into the conflict, with Brazil and the USA attacking Spain in the south, and the UK attacking Belgium in the north.
Development
France's involvement in the war began on March 23, 2011 with Spain declaring France as a natural enemy and attacking Lower Saxony and Bremen, a part of the Polish-occupied German homeland. Germany had become a member of Terra on the day of the initial Polish assault, though had been in negotiations to join other Strasbourg Treaty signers (all of which had already joined Terra) for weeks prior to the attack.
In the initial stages of the war, Spain successfully attacked Midi-Pyrenees and continued through Aquitaine, Poitou Charentes, Loire Valley and Burgundy, winning these battles while facing some minor Resistance Wars in Aquitaine. On April 2nd, Spain lost the initiative in Franche-comte, while Poland started their attacks against France in Alsace and Lorraine. After that, Poland and Spain started a succesful campaign, winning almost all their battles. On April 14, with the help oh the Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), France disappeared from the map.
After that, France launched a series of successful resistance wars against Spain, and regained her regions after 10 days of fighting, closing the war.
April 14: France falls!
April 24: War ends, as Spain has lost all her French regions.
Concurrent Wars in the Western Theater of World War V
As a result of a sustained Polish-Spanish two frontal assault, the country of France was slowly being split in half. Seeing their ally faltering against ONE forces, Brazil initiated an attack upon Spain through the Canary Islands on March 25, 2011.
Initially Brazil made strong advancements into Spanish territory, however, by this time the war in other fronts (the Balkans or Germany) forced Brazil further back out of Spanish territories and placed Terra firmly on the defense.
The USA would also engage Spain through their colonies in allied-Portugal after a failed attempt to oust Poland from occupied Mexico.
Meanwhile, the UK attempted to enter the war through Belgium, but met with heavy resistance and then shortly thereafter faced reciprocal attacks upon their own homeland.
Eventually Spain would would gain the initiative and launch their own offensive against Brazil in the North of Brazil, continuing the Brazil-Spain War. At the same time Spain would also attack the USA territory of Maryland, during the USA-Spain War.
On April 14, France would be fully conquered, after Spain took Paris Isle of France and the Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) gained control of Corsica and Provence-Alpes-Azur from their Italian territories. However, France managed to free some regions quickly, and launched a series of resistance wars again against Spain.
Meanwhile, the USA-Spain War continued with alternating trans-Atlantic assaults, and the Brazil-Spain War became suspended as Poland took the lead role in the Brazilian front during the Poland-Brazil War.
Eventually the USA would defend against a sustained Spanish invasion and once again attack Spain as the USA-Spain War continued.
After removing Spain from its territories, France would then focus on liberating the regions that remained under Polish occupation at the end of the war.
Animosity between France and Spain would continue, though no direct fighting occurred between the two countries after Spain was removed from French territory, and no formal peace treaty was signed.
