Travis James was a citizen of Austria. He was the 32nd President of Austria and a longtime Austrian Congressmen (21 terms) and soldier.

Early Life

He was born on day 586 of the New World in the Austrian region of Vorarlberg. His early life was simple, consisting of the minimum 2 clicks a day. After a week of living in Vorarlberg, Travis decided to leave his heimat in search of a land with more opportunity. After a period of research, he decided that he couldn't abandon his beloved Austria. Rather than emigrating, he made his way to Styria (the only Austrian region with a Q5 Hospital) where he hoped to make his fortune. Once in Styria, he prospered. It was there that he first became involved in both the military and political aspects of life.

Later Life

After his extensive involvement in the Austrian political process during his early years, he found it increasingly more cumbersome to continue running a political party, serving as a congressional candidate and serving as a Minister in various administrations. Thus he decided, for the time being, to give up all of his official positions, other than that of congressman. He officially ended his stint as ÖIP Party president in January of 2010. The decision to withdraw somewhat from the public eye was something of a mixed bag. Although it did make his life easier, it also resulted in his loss of recognition amongst the general population of Austria. As the demographics of the nation began to shift from English majority to German majority he was faced with the very real threat of political isolation and obsolescence. In fact, his fears proved to be correct, when he was ousted by the congress in April 2010. This marked his first absence from the congress since losing (briefly) his seat in September of 2009.

Despite his withdrawal from certain aspects of the game, he remained very much active throughout his Life. Travis James continued to work on a daily basis and never missed a vote of the congress. He did, however, stop using the IRC after finding that it had largely degenerated into something which was not useful to a person who was somewhat strapped for time, as he was. After making several feeble overtures, via his newspaper, at attempting to regain a position in the Austrian cabinet he began to feel somewhat disheartened and began to consider the possibility of emigrating from his homeland, at least temporarily.

Early Political Life

The first step in his political life was to join the Rot Weiss Rot Party. At the time, he was a young, naive citizen without any idea of how the world worked. It didn't take long for Travis to realize that he wanted to play a much more active political role than was going to be possible in Rot Weiss Rot. Therefore, he made the decision to join the Social-Libertarian Party of Austria, which was led by Hrvat at the time.

Interestingly enough, his life as an elected official came about by accident. Several days before the party president elections of 15 August 2009, Travis accidentally declared his candidature for party president. Although he initially planned to bow out of the race, the idea of entering the political arena proved too tempting.

As Party president

Running on a reform platform Travis secured the support of a majority of voting members in the party, just edging out the interim party leader, chadjo. After securing his position, Travis renamed the party and realigned it's politics and many of its political positions. During his presidency, the party achieved its greatest political success to date, winning 6 congressional seats, or 15% of the Austrian congress in the 25 August 2009 elections.

He was an active politician, the founder and party leader of the Osterreich Independence Party and a member of the Austrian congress from Tyrol. During his time as party president, he published The Official Charter of the Osterreich Independence Party. This party is still the power house in Austria - decades later.

Post Austrian Independence Party president

After handing the presidency of the ÖIP over to Rangeley on 15 January 2010, Travis James entered a period of relative inactivity due to RL issues. However, he remained active in the congress and military of Austria. In February 2010 he came partially out of retirement to help defend the interests of an Austria which found itself in an increasingly hostile situation with its neighbors, namely Croatia.

Return to Politics

On the 2nd of June 2010 Travis James once again became the interim leader of the ÖIP. He served in this position until the end of the term on the 15th of June. After which he decided to stand down in favor of Thomas765 who sought the presidency for the first time. After Thomas765 had served in this position for 2 months, Travis James decided to formally announce his candidacy for a 7th term as ÖIP president. However, he did not seek reelection after this term expired. In fact, he formally left the ÖIP the following month due to ideological differences with the new leadership of the party.

Austrian Presidency

In November of 2010 he ran for President of Austria against N I K A N. The election was close, but ended up with a suspicious victory for the opposition by a few votes. After the loss, he moved to France where he could further develop his military skills and earn a living wage. However, after 10 days in office N I K A N was impeached by the Congress due to one of the largest robberies of Austrian government money and property in the history of the nation. In light of this crises, Travis James returned to Austria and became the president.

With the Italy-Austria War heating up, and Austrian funds depleted, the Austrian government was in a difficult position of fighting a must win battle in Vorarlberg to save the nation before the congress election. With nearly no time to spare, Austria returned to the map and was able to elect a new congress successfully.

He is also a soldier, serving in Osterreichs Bundesheer. His first overseas deployment as a part of Osterreichs Bundesheer came in the early days of World War III when he was deployed to Lisboa in order to assist Portugal's war effort.

He has served in various capacities in the military of Austria over his life. Traditionally he has served in whatever the current incarnation of the military is for citizens who cannot leave Austria due to in-game obligations, such as holding a position in Congress. However, he has at times deployed overseas in order to protect the interests of Austria.

After the Croatian invasion of Austria, Travis James came out of retirement in order to move to Slovenia and fight for the independence of Austria. He achieved a Battle hero medal in the Battle for Upper Austria.

During the Italian Invasion of Austria in September/October of 2010 he fought against the Italians in Salzburg achieving 8500 damage and in Styria achieving 20600 damage for which he received the battle hero medal and was promoted to the rank of Icon rank Field Marshal.png Field Marshal. In a later mini-battle in Styria, he did a further 1670 damage in an attempt to help turn the tide. Unfortunately, the battle was narrowly lost, much like the earlier one.

He also fought against the Italians as they moved farther into Austria. During their attack on Carinthia, he achieved 8159 damage.

He also fought against the Italians in the Austrian counterattack against Salzburg. In the fourth round he dealt roughly 12000 damage and achieved a battle hero medal for his efforts. In the fifth round he dealt roughly 3000 damage in a vain attempt to turn the tide of the fight, which was narrowly lost to the Italians. In the sixth round he dealt 10674 damage and achieved the battle hero medal for his efforts in the battle.

After the Italians regrouped and began to push farther into Austria he fought them in Lower Austria. In the second round of the battle he dealt 8200 damage and received a battle hero medal for his efforts, although the battle was lost. He later achieved 10500 damage in the last round, earning an additional battle hero medal in the process.

During the Polish-German War of October 2010, he helped in the defense of Saxony after it was invaded by Polish and Eden forces. In the third round of the battle he dealt roughly 7000 damage. In the 8 round of the battle he dealt an additional 12000 damage, unfortunately, both rounds were nonetheless won by the numerically superior Eden forces.

In the Austrian-Italian War of 2010 he joined in the later stages of the battle dealing 11542 damage in a battle which was ultimately lost to superior Italian and Eden forces.

In the German counterattack against the Polish Invaders he participated in the battle for Saxony-Anhalt dealing 16217 damage in one round. In a later round of the battle he dealt an additional 3708 fighting barehanded against the Poles.

During the Slovak invasion of Lower Austria he dealt 11000 damage and earned his seventh battle hero medal.

Opposition to World War III

Shortly after the start of World War III, Travis had a change of heart. He realized that the war was being fought only to exact revenge against former members of ATLANTIS. At this time, he became a vocal opponent of the war. He felt that the war violated the mission statement of PEACE GC as it was not a war of defensive, but an aggressive war of conquest.

Travis James spent the early part of his life working in the "Land" industry, but changed to the "Manufacturing" industry early in his life. After this change, he has never looked back and served as a Guru** Technician. Thus far he has earned 24 hard worker medals.

Travis James is the editor of The Austrian Post which he uses to communicate with members of the Austrian Independence Party and as an area for congress members to debate laws that he has proposed. He was also the owner of several grain farms and fruit orchards, 2 food corporations, an iron mine, an oil rig and a weapons company in Austria.
