Introduction
Bulgaria was founded along with the other original countries on 20 Nov 2007. In its early years, the country enjoyed peaceful relations with its neighbours and stayed clear of the major conflicts, preferring to help with mobile units than with direct attacks. This changed in late 2009 when, after an attack by Romania, Bulgaria started taking a more active role in the New World.
2007
Prehistory
Bulgaria was one of the first countries to be added in eRepublik. It appeared on the map of the New World on 20th November 2007. The early days are shrouded in mystery as nobody knows what happened during those times and there are no surviving documents.

EDEN Invasion of Serbia
Now that Bulgaria had finally freed its last regions it started looking how to help its allies. Bosnia and Herzegovina had just declared Serbia as a Natural enemy in an effort to free its regions, which had been conquered by Serbia. This war turned into a full-scale invasion as Croatia, Romania and Bulgaria attacked Serbia. Bulgaria joined the war on May 1st, but it was quickly stopped.
On May 5th, Todor Totev was elected as the new president. This caused great controversy in the Bulgarian community. Some people felt that someone had orchestrated the elections and that Todor Totev didn't deserve to be a president. He was inexperienced, while the two other major candidates were well-known Bulgarian citizens and one of them was a two-term president. Todor Totev, was also a member of Squadron of Light (SoL), which was a very controversial military unit in Bulgaria. People felt that the elected president was simply a puppet and that the real power was held by SoL. Some players left Bulgaria after the elections and moved to Croatia.
