Speech balloon.png What is the bar?

The Bar is a place in which editors can exchange their ideas, or drink a beer.

After introducing yourself at the Community Portal, you can learn what changes need to be made, see what projects are going underway and take part in many active discussions. You are welcome to start a new discussion, but keep in mind that all articles have their own talk pages, and please remember to sign your comments!

In summary, how we treat each other does matter. It matters because, without empathy, our lives are shallow, self-centered and meaningless.

We need editors and translators!
If you are new and don't have any experience with wiki at all - ask for help in the Bar!
Dear editors and translators, we need you to:

Name Change

I have changed my in-game name again and I need my wiki to reflect that change... my sig is also out dated. https://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php?title=Akodo_Setai&redirect=no Max Volumn (talk) 03:53, 26 February 2020 (PST)

All done. In terms of the signature I believe you will need to update that yourself in the settings --"Icon-eRepublik.png Gucio «Talk»" 00:40, 13 March 2020 (PDT)

I need my wiki user account and associated User talk updated https://www.erepublik.com/en/citizen/profile/2009160 I know I have been a pain in the ass for a long time here but I am near e-death with everything in its current state and have gone econo to survive.

Downtime next week

During next week (from Monday the 20th til Friday the 24th) in the late evening / early morning time (01:00 - 06:00 CET) there will be updates to certain templates so you can expect slower wiki or even some downtime in this period. Please try not to do any major updates in this period. Thank you for understanding. :) --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 06:42, 17 April 2020 (PDT)

{{ICitizen/Core}}, {{Citizen/Core}}, {{Rank/Switch‎‎}}, {{ELink‎}}, {{ELinkLaw}} corrections done; mostly HTTP --> HTTPS and some styling additions. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 20:35, 20 April 2020 (PDT)
{{IMilitary unit}} updated to match {{Military unit}}; testing to make sure it is fine will be done in upcoming days. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 18:30, 21 April 2020 (PDT)
Thanks for this AndyCro! Will any of these updates impact G-Bot? The bot now runs daily to update the region ownerships --"Icon-eRepublik.png Gucio «Talk»" 14:55, 22 April 2020 (PDT)
@Gucio: Heavy changes are done after the bot, so bot should NOT be affected. :) But do tell bot to update regions as United Kingdom, not UK xD --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 17:34, 22 April 2020 (PDT)
Review completed of: {{Country}}, {{ICountry}}, {{Alliance}}, {{IAlliance}}, {{Organization}}, {{Party}}, {{IParty}}, {{Region}}, {{IRegion}}. No need for major changes. {{IMilitary unit}} has some issues; requires more testing to be conducted and the fixes will be done in portions when fixes are ready to be implemented. No downtime period is to occur, the regular potential downtime for bot updates is from 02:00 - 02:15 CET every night, so try to not do large changes in that period. Thank you for your patience. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 16:05, 23 April 2020 (PDT)

October 2020 potential downtime

There could be a potential downtime due to a minor change to the LangMenu template on 26th of October (early morning; could have some effects during the whole day) so try not to make any super major changes without saving them somewhere out of wiki (e.g. Notepad, GDrive, etc.). Thank you for understanding. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 05:21, 18 October 2020 (PDT)

Internationalization and templates

Due to the fact that this wiki tries to do internationalization it creates some very strange things. None of them are good. But that doesn't mean that we should add more problems to the pile.

One of those problems comes from somehow we have ended up with several distinct templates for the same thing. One template for the "English" version and one template for the other languages. For example: {{Citizen}} and {{iCitizen}}.

This is terrible in many ways, specially for keeping them both updated and looking the same.

So my question is, should we merge the two versions of such templates? Was/is there a reason that would cause something to break?

Democr1tus (talk) 08:44, 17 March 2021 (PDT)

@Democr1tus: The idea behind splitting large templates is for the better language customization purposes and to split the usage of one template into many. However, if you have an idea how to merge everything in one - please do use your sandbox area to see if everything would work and then we can test it as Citizen2 template or smth like that. And sorry for the slow answer. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 05:26, 1 July 2022 (PDT)

Congress elections 2008/2009

At the very beginning of eRepublik during Congress elections, every CANDIDATE received a vote and NOT the party. This has been recorded on Wiki... Unfortunately this (in my opinion, Vital information) is being lost.

In order to streamline or bring everything into line (in the same style) we have been rewriting the old info and by doing so destroying the feel of the original Congress elections. (Which in my opinion were much more interesting as every citizen received a vote, and every citizen was elected on his merit). I feel that this info needs to be preserved and not just overwritten with (incorrect - party system) info that appears on todays eRep Congress pages.

Many of the old Congress results have already been lost forever... I am partial to ancient history of Austria. This country had one of the best (arguably) ancient histories in eRep., with full Congress election results in the old style. Old style results of Congress elections (of Austria) do not exist any more as they have been overwritten with new Party style election results which did not exist at the time. And individual citizens results have been lost for ever.

I strongly feel that our duty (as Wiki Editors and historians of the New World) is to PRESERVE actual and factual results. Especially when the system was different. Todays New World is very different to the original that we lived and played in 2008/09. Again, I feel that old results need to be preserved. (After all, we save/preserve obsolete versions of the game).

I am referring to the latest edit for month of November 2008 Bundestag 2008 which was changed to reflect the new Party election result system that did not exist in November 2008. The old edit had the correct results for the November 2008 election, but that was overwritten.

Most importantly, I wish to stress that this is in no way criticism of the editor/s in question. But we should reach some sort of consensus and (hopefully) preserve the old and correct information.--Sre8renica (talk) 16:55, 25 November 2022 (PST)

@Sre8renica: look now, is it better? "Stephan Condurachis ===>>> Do not ask me to become what I am not because then I cease to exist (talk) 01:59, 26 November 2022 (PST)"
@Stephan Condurachis: Thank you, Stephan Condurachis. No information was lost - so, great work.
There can also be information on the Region in which the candidate was standing for election. That region should be included as well (as selecting the region in which the candidate stood for election could be the difference between being elected or not).
Andycro has done excellent work on ancient Congress of Croatia 2009. That should be our aim (if information is still available). Andy was actually there at the time, so he was able to provide tons of additional background info that us Plebs will be unable to do for other countries.
Important thing is to preserve old info whenever possible. Unfortunately, too much has already been lost forever. --Sre8renica (talk) 16:18, 26 November 2022 (PST)
I agree, with the premise and the conclusion. I am doing my best to try to dig out some data about Congress of Croatia 2009, Congress of Croatia 2010, going through many newspapers to get the data as in the game data simply was lost. :( I am also a bit playing around with the best way how to show the results as the way how Congress elections are done changed two times. Definitely a challenge. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 03:01, 1 December 2022 (PST)
