Thankyou

For the vote in the Bar :)

And - apologies if i have made problems for you and the other Uber Wikiers when i was suffering from wikin00bitis. - Timeoin 1:21 10 January 2010 (UTC).

You're welcome! :) And don't worry about mistakes you've possibly done, we all make those. When I started editing last summer I had to learn few things a hard way. :D And I still make lots of mistakes. Some of them are really stupid so don't worry, even the more experienced of us don't always get everything right. Keep up the spirit!--Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 14:29, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, Kuhaa! And im glad to hear that im not the only person making mistakes! I have only been using wikis since i got access on here, so im not as experienced as a lot of people here, so im always worried that im making a big mistake. And as for stupid mistakes - i think i think i have been making one for a while now. I have been adding the UTC time at the end of talk pages, without knowing what it stood for. I think i have been about 12 hours behind on the timestamps for a good while now (oops). I will keep up the spirit - i enjoy trying to improve pages when i can! I guess i must have caught Wikitis. --Icon-Australia.png Timeoin |Talk to Me 14:39, 9 January, 2009 (UTC).

I too didn't have any Wiki experience when I started editing here. But we have a good Help section here and I learned a lot by seeing how other pages were written and formatted. And of course people guided me when I made mistakes, that's what Wiki community is here for. And I'm still in the process of learning new things so it takes time. I noticed your timestamps but don't worry about it, it's not that serious. :)--Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 19:39, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Macedonian

I believe I did everything correctly while translating this article. But it is not displayed on this page page, however. Would you mind taking a look at this, and tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance -- Toneh |Talk to Me 00:39, 10 January, 2010 (GMT+1).

I'm sorry, I should have made myself more clear. By "language category" I meant the category of your language, the second one you linked. So add after the LangMenu. Also, the links on your page don't work properly. It seems to me you've just translated the words inside the link, but that's not the way to do it. For example, if you want to create a link to Macedonian transaltion of National goals, you'll need to add /Македонски after the link. So National goals would be National goals/Македонски of course that doesn't look good, so you can change the displaying word like this: Macedonian translation for National goals which results in Macedonian translation for National goals. A better way to link to translated pages is the L-template which doesn't need National goals/Македонски. So National goals here would produce link to english version, but on a Macedonian page it would link to Macedonian translation. I hope you know what I mean, more information can be found here.--Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 23:51, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Sorry for being a pain in the bottom, but until I get the hang of this, I'll keep making rookie mistakes, despite having read the how-to. Thanks for the detailed explanation. :) --Icon-Macedonia.png Toneh |Talk to Me 01:12, 10 January, 2010 (GMT+1).

You're not a pain in the butt, I'm here to help. We all make mistakes and believe me, you're not the first or last one to have troubles with categories. I made the same mistake of forgetting to remove extra categories, except no one noticed it until I had translated ~20. So it happens to all of us, don't worry. A good way to learn how to make good translations is to see how others have done them. That's what I did back when I was learning the ropes. --Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 00:36, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, I noticed that now. I will consider it in every my translation and will spread the word to all Macedonian translators --Macedonian_LionIcon-Macedonia.png 20:05, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Fortress Strategy

Thank you, I did not notice that before. --Woxan 06:57, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

Argh

I have a problem. I have added something new to the deletion policy. And you have nominated/article was deleted by QJ. I really believe that author can not blank pages that have been moved from his user pages to the official namespace. What do you think? The article that "caught" my eye is Devioux. Please, do not think that you have done nothing wrong, but I believe that we have to implement some official standards. (My bad is that I didn't look at the Articles for Deletion past week! :() Best regards, --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 19:35, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

Oh, I hadn't read that last section as the rule was added on a time I did only few edits per day (though that's not an excuse. I'm now watching that page ;) ). I agree you have a point, though that particular page had very little content to begin with (I don't know if this works but you can try to see here. On the other hand there were four links pointing to it so maybe I should have just reverted the edit. I agree that pages shouldn't be deleted just because original author wants to, but how do we define when a page has become part of eRepublik history? Pages about parties and wars etc are obvious but I think citizen pages are a problem. Most of them are stubs and become outdated when citizen loses interest or dies so they don't always provide valuable information about the citizen or eRepublik's history. Would it be better to allow blanking and deleting of citizen pages that haven't been updated for a long time and that don't have any information that couldn't be seen by watching citizen's profile page in game? I hope you find my point, it's getting late. --Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 20:23, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

LOL. I was updating pasko111 with new info and you were faster. xD --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 18:34, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Misunderstanding

Hi! You've done a splendid job translating pages to Chinese, but there are few things I must notice you. First of all, please pay attention to categories while translating. Translated pages should have only the category of the language (in your case ) and categories automatically added by templates. Please remove categories like Politics, Economy, Playing the Game etc. Also, please don't leave your signature on pages in main name space. Signatures are to be used in talk pages. Third thing is File:MyPlaceAd_.jpg. I personally don't think it's needed. The menu you've uploaded has two sections highlighted and they won't last forever. Sooner or later we will have to delete the file when it becomes outdated. I have placed a deletion template on the image and I kindly ask you not to use it anymore. If you disagree with my decision, please leave a message on my talk page with reasons why you find that image useful. Thank you for understanding! --Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 20:47, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

May I inquire you why do you keep blanking the page Presidential candidate/中文(简体)? No one owns a page in Wiki, so you can't decide you don't want that page to exist unless there's a real reason for it, even if you're the one who created that page in the first place. Unless you can provide me reason not to revert your edit, I will revert it. In the future, please use Template:Deletion if you want to have a page removed, blanking a page over and over again without a reason will be considered vandalism. For more information, please see Category:Policies. Thank you for understanding. --Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 21:13, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Hello Kuhaa, thank you for your tips. I'm a new user who wants to consummate the chinese data here to help more chinese readers. I tried not to add new category and barely translate english ones into chinese. If you don't think File:MyPlaceAd_.jpg is good enough, just replace it with a new one. But it is sure that the section army doesn't exist now. It is now Training grounds. In the case of Presidential candidate/中文(简体), in fact, it did not exist before. I made it today, and I made a mistake, too. You may find that Presidential candidate/中文(简体) is completely the same as Presidential elections/中文(简体). So I just want to overwrite it. If you can read chinese, you could find it easily. Icon-China.png Cynosure86|sTalk to me! --Cy 00:30, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Oh I see, but updating a page doesn't require it to be blanked first so obviously I couldn't know what you were up to. ;) But I can see you've now made some changes to the page so I presume it now has correct information? About the file you uploaded, it indeed is more up to date when it comes to section names, but my main concern is those highlighted sections as they will disappear sooner or later. Once they're gone, we are going to upload a new version. However, as that menu is used on so many pages, it's better to just save a new version of File:MyPlacesAd.png so we don't have to start changing file names on pages. I'm glad we managed to resolve this. Cheers! --Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 06:32, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Need a tip

Thanks for the tips, I will read the article, but when I translate I keep the original English version (the style and the code), so if there are some mistakes in the links they are from the original article. Your note for the links to my page was very important, because in some of the Bulgarian translations there were some kind of signatures. I will remove those links in case I see one. Thanks for the good words, this motivates me a lot!--Valentin Milanov

Hello, Kuhaa, I wanted to ask you about translating templates. For example [this template] appears in the Bulgarian article too. How can I translate it to my language? All best, Icon-Bulgaria.png --Valentin Milanov 16:21, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

Wonder if you can help?

Hey again Kuhaa, just wondered if you could help me. Earlier, my IP address was blocked from editing for 3 hours by MillBot << i think that was his name because someone with the same IP had been deleting content from pages. Does this mean my internet provider is giving me a random IP address every time I logon to the net? Because I assumed IPs were unique? And if so, how do I reset it to a new one to prevent this in future?

Thanks, Tom Fletcher

I don't know what exactly happened that caused normal users to be blocked, but it's now fixed. I don't think it has anything to do with your internet provider as everybody except Sysops were unable to edit. A friend of mine is into this technical stuff and he thinks it's because IP-address 127.0.0.1 got blocked, and it's the one referring to everybody's own computer(it's the one you should see in place of your nick when you're browsing Wiki without logging in). So you should be fine. --Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 05:44, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

EDIT: Thanks for helping out dude :D

Exception

And now I have a question: wouldn't this be an exception to the eRepublik:Naming policy? It has a capital letter in the middle of a word, but if it's a game entity and the group indeed is called DropBears and not Dropbears, Drop bears or Drop Bears, shouldn it be allowed to have a page named exactly as it is, or would this be a case where Display title template should be used?--Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 19:11, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Yes, it should be, and I wanted to warn Timeoin, but chickens attacked me. Damn chickens. Will you please tell him and explain the exceptions, today I won't be online, I have to visit my college. :( --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 11:49, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
p.s. You do not need to answer on both talks, if I ask you here, just answer me here - it is easier for you, and I monitor both talk pages, so it is the same for me. ;)
Gah. Whoops. Apologies to both of you - It was an honest mistake. Um... I dont understand the exceptions to this - Ill take your word for the DropBears example, though. If someone could explain it further, great - if not, ill just leave pages alone just in case im wrong again :) --Icon-Australia.png Timeoin|Say G'Day to Timeoin 13:41, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
To be honest - I have seen it used as both. The Organizations that were created ages ago to distribute weapons to them use the lowercase version, and almost every reference to them seems to use "Dropbears", but to complicate things, when abreviating it, most Australians tend to abbreviate it to DBs. Im happy with what everyone else decides, though. If yourself and the others want it to be DropBears, then ill leave it as it is :) --Icon-Australia.png Timeoin|Say G'Day to Timeoin 14:30, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
I have re-read the Naming Conventions page - I think i misunderstood what was meant to begin with. Still a tiny bit confused about it, but im pretty sure that I understand what I did wrong now. I will leave the DropBears page as it is. Apologies again to you and Andycro for the problem --Icon-Australia.png Timeoin|Say G'Day to Timeoin 15:11, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I'm that creepy guy lurking behind your windows. But it was just a coincidence, I though sorting out Accepting citizenship would be an easy task and I thought I could do Applying for citizenship at the same time as most of the links were on same pages. You've done such a great job implementing naming policy so I though I should give you a hand. --Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 13:38, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Okay. NOW i understand the difference the we were talking about last night. Will fix them now :) -- --Icon-Australia.png Timeoin|Say G'Day to Timeoin 15:13, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Hopefully the ones that I have created are a bit better, Kuhaa. I will add more pages shortly (when Real Life gets slightly less hectic).
I was very naughty, and was using cut-and-paste a bit there. It is usually not a problem, except when you have had no sleep - still, like you said - it needed doing. --

Hrvat

I edited Hrvats page because he falsely edited mine. But I will not do it again. It was just a dumb retaliation move on my part. Gave me a decent laugh as I am sure his did. Don't mess with mine and I won't mess with yours........ Thanks though for giving me a warning, which you should of done for him.

Exceptions to Naming policy - what do you think?

I added few more exceptions to Naming policy and I would like to hear your opinion of them. Also, I'd like to give my opinion of some of these. I think that user created positions should have more loose guidelines of how to name the page. Also, they're all created in a same fashion: X of/in Y and I really don't see any reason to change that. But if we allow that, we should then probably move Second In Command to Second in Command. Would it be too confusing? And what about Prime Minister? However Non-Aggression Pact and Fortress Strategy are in my opinion no exceptions to the policy. Though you should probably know that there are actually two pages about fortresses: One:Fortress strategy and One:Fortress. Fortress was created first and I contacted Woxan when he created Fortress Strategy asking him to merge those pages but nothing seems to be done. So we should probably decide whether we want Fortress or Fortress strategy I'd say Fortress, as it has already been linked elsewhere than in Woxan's talk page.--Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 20:56, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

I am going to purge my talk page today, so I have moved this "fresh" section to your talk page. Honestly - I do not know. I would rather have that Minister of X remains with capital letter of the department because most of abbreviation are MoFA (Minister of Foreign Affairs), MoD (Minister of Defense), etc. But can we make this an excepetion? And won't this be confusing? Because we have decided to move Congress Member and Party President according to the new policy, if we leave all of the user created positions, won't these make a confusion? It would be better that we leave only few exceptions, not a list of 100 articles with exception. :( Prime Minister should be only exception of user created positions at it refers to an office of President (sometimes) and this is a big role in ePolitics. Please tell me what you think here, as I will be archiving my talk today. Thank you.--AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 11:05, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Well, we could just say "Minister positions should be named Minister/Chief of *Department*, department having capital letter(s). This includes Prime Minister, but other positions such as Second in command or Recruitment director (to name a few examples) should follow the policy." In my opinion a rule like that would not be too complicated and we might even manage without an actual list.--Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 11:41, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
A question for Kuhaa or AndyCro: Just to confirm, does this mean that I should move the page Government Positions of Australia to Government positions of Australia ? (And second question: positions such as Senate Speaker: What is the verdict? When i get around to making that page, should it be "Senate Speaker" or "Senate spearker" ? (Im trying not to make as many mistakes!). No hurry with the anser, Ill just get to work on it whenever it is officially decided :) --Icon-Australia.png Timeoin|Say G'Day to Timeoin 15:14, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

p.s. why isnt my Signature working properly :(

I'm answering here as this conversation seems to be taking place here. Government Positions of Australia's "Positions" should't have capital letter, you're right. If you're going to move it, fix all the links that link to that page and when it's done, place deletion template on the redirect. But I personally would like to sort these "official" pages about the game itself before we start moving too many pages as this policy is still under construction. If we made a policy such as I describer, "Senate speaker" would be a right way to name the page as it is neither "X of/in Y" nor Prime Minister. In my opinion this is pretty simple: if it's not an exception, capitalize only the first letter (and persons, cities and countries names of course). What's wrong with your signature? You've created page User:Timeoin/Signature, now you need to go to your preferences, paste to box "Signature" and check Raw signatures (without automatic link). Then you can use --~~~~ to place your signature. --Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 15:45, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

I have made a resolution on it, as you already manage to read. Look, we are always on the scope and yes, it is sometime to hard to be objective, sometimes your steel nervs snap... But, if you have any problems, if you need a hand, I am always here... About deleting pages... I don't like when I have to delete articles that I nominated... It can always be determined as biased. Rather I leave to the QJ or someone else to delete it... And yes baby, you didn't make any mistake except you lost your nerve... And no one will remove your sysop powers for snaping... You can do it once a year! :D
