Mentee Home   This is the central place for information for Wiki Project Mentees! Why You Need a Mentor   The wiki can be a confusing and difficult for new users. There are a lot of policies and processes that can seem overwhelming at first. The mentors are here to ease you into your work in the wiki by critiquing your work, providing advice, and being a resource when you need help. The Mentor Program is not indefinite. Once you gain confidence and and competence you will graduate from the program. Most likely the official Mentor-Mentee relationship will last 1-3 months, depending on the level of commitment to the wiki. Hopefully, once you graduate, you will want to serve the community yourself by becoming a mentor to another new user. The Mentor - Mentee Relationship   A Mentor is a teacher, a counselor, a guide to a less experienced person. The Mentor is not a god or a boss, but someone to help the Mentee along the way. The Mentee is the learner who should take advantage of the Mentor's knowledge and guidance to gain his or her own skills and confidence. The Process   The Mentoring process is very simple. How to Sign Up   There are two ways to get a mentor, select a mentor yourself or have one assigned. To Self-Select Go to the Mentor List read the information about our mentors and contact the mentor though the preferred way The Mentor will respond to you (most likely on your talk page) so check back in the wiki. To Have a Mentor Assigned Go to your User Page and type '''{{Template:Mentor Request}}''' and click save. A Mentor request box will appear. The project coordinator will assign a mentor to you within 2 days. You will receive a message on your user talk page with your mentor information. If you know of a wiki editor that isn't a Mentor, but you would like them to be yours. Contact the coordinator to ask if that person can join the program.
