2nd NZ Parliament
The 2nd Parliament of New Zealand was in session from November, 25 to December 25, 2010. The membership was set by the November 25 parliamentary elections. It did not change radically until the results from the December 25 parliamentary elections came in.
Throughout its entire session it was controlled by the Aotearoa party, which had gained a single-party majority following the elections. This was the first time a single-party won control over the Parliament. It's power was augmented following the December 5 Presidential election when leading member Don KronoX was elected Prime Minister.
Besides, Aotearoa, four other parties earned representation in the Parliament. They were the Peace 'n' Prosperity Party, Kiwi Social Democrats, Kiwi People's Party and Super Sweet 16 Party (SS16P). However, because of the majority, their influence was minimal.
This Parliament was notably for not just Aotearoa's majority but also the collapse in the SS16P seat count, as it had held 16 before and now was reduced to just 3. Another feature of this Parliament was its role in creating a new Central Bank after the "Dark Mantel Scandal". The Aotearoa majority used its numbers to consolidate its gains.
