Attica is a region of Greece. The capital is Rathens. Attica was taken over by Turkey during the First Balkan War but was freed in a resistance war on June 12, 2009.
Name of Athens
In July 2008, a movement was made by the Hellenic Parliament to change the name of Athens to Rathens, after the first Greek Republic Resistance president Rathen Holton.[1] The measure passed but some government documents continue to call the city Athens.
