Politics

He is the co-founder of Bezbednosno-Informativna Agencija (Serbian intelligence agency) and is a four-times former president of Stranka Zdravog Razuma, a top 5 party in Serbia. In July 2014 he formed a new party by the name of Stranka Narodnog Jedinstva, and achieved a fast promotion to the top 10 party list with more than 140 members. After a few months party slipped under and due to the lack of activity, it had less than 30 members and its rank was 17th in Serbia. In December 2015 the party has ended its existence after becoming part of Srpski narodni front where Backoovan became the party councillor.

He served 29 terms as a Congress member.
