Capelli King is a citizen of Greece, permanently banned former President of Greece who is widely cited as one of the first to enact a "scorched earth" policy on the eve of a political coup. The policies designed to destroy the economy of Greece drastically devalued the Greek drachma and only in September 2008 did his damaging effects begin to fade.
Prior to June 2008
Before June 2008—when Goons began entering eRepublik. Capelli King was one of the most influential politicians in Greece. As Party President of the United Greece Party, a coalition party that had united the separate parties of the Family, Spartans, and the Greek Nationalist Party, Capelli had an immense amount of political clout. He was elected President of Greece in the months of May and June 2008.
Scorched Earth
In mid-June 2008, a United Greek party member named Rathen Holton split from the party and formed a new party, the Greek Republic Resistance. A handful of other United Greeks split with Holton. One of Capelli's congressmen, Jason1, remarked to Rathen, "No offense, have fun at failure." In response, hundreds of Goons swarmed into Greece and elected Resistance officials across all regions.
Sensing a threat to his Presidency, Capelli issued proposals to the United Greece Party-led Congress to print, in total, 4.3 billion drachmas. The drachmas were then used to buy gold from the market, enriching Capelli and disastrously devaluing the drachma against gold.
