History

Central Greece was the only region not to fall to the Turkish military over the course of the Balkan Wars. Much of the Greek Government moved to Lamia in the aftermath of the war and continued to operate. The region was the last to be taken by Turkey in the Third Balkan War. It was freed on June 15, 2009, during Operation Turkish Delight.
