This page is about the old newspaper Nederlands Nieuws (Dutch News). On day 2,732, Nederlands Nieuws was renamed to Common Sense.
Nederlands Nieuws was a Dutch newspaper by Mattio. The paper was founded on day 1,525, after Mattio had been away from eRepublik for 500 days. After another period of inactivity, the newspaper restarted publishing on day 2,670.
Nederlands Nieuws used to publish in Dutch or bilingual, writing English as well. Nowadays, it shifted to English only with possible exceptions. It used to be a member of the former Dutch Media Group.

Nederlands Nieuws
Philosophy
Nederlands Nieuws actively focused on political analysis and interviewing prominent Dutch politicians. It wished to encourage open, in-game debate and inform a wide audience about political developments, while at the same time being a neutral and observing voice in Dutch journalism.
Knight in the order of Oranje-Nassau
For his activities with Nederlands Nieuws, Mattio received the medal of the Knight in the order of Oranje-Nassau from the president NoTie112 on day 1,537.

In the past, Nederlands Nieuws organized a number of events.
- The February CP-debate, on February the 3rd 2012. This debate was held on IRC under Mattio's supervision. CP candidates Joep O and NoTie112 discussed various subjects during the debate.
- The February 2012 Census of the Netherlands, from February the 9th to the 10th. This census gave a clear image on the player activity in the Netherlands.
- The March CP-debate, on March the 2nd 2012. This debate was held on IRC by Kimberly McCullouch and Mattio. CP candidates Auggustus and Van Spijck discussed various statements during the debate.
