Info from March 2008

Brazil currently has 4 main political parties.

  1. Comando Brasileiro (CBR) is the largest, with a left and nationalist orientation, currently they are ruling in the country government and in the two biggest regions.
  2. Partido Jovem Brasileiro (PJB) is the the second largest party. They were the biggest party, but in the last days before the Fourth general elections, internal problems lead to a large decrease in its member count.
  3. Partido Socialista (PS) has a nationalistic orientation, although its "socialist" name, it is a right wing party.
  4. La Caipirinha (LACA) was the first Brazilian party, and decreased with time, along with the foreign habitants leaving the country.

Also, there are other two, non representative, parties: Partido Democrata (PD, 3 members) and Acta, Non Verba (ANV, 1 member).
