The Hong Kong Special Duties Unit was formed on November 24, 2009 by Jameson L. Tai to help revitalize and support the Chinese military in defensive and training work. The unit operates in a militia-type fashion while its economic support may be found to be tied with the HKGOLDEN Party. Although it is operated like a militia, it is only used to build self-sufficiency and not a privatized military force for hire.

History

The Hong Kong Special Duties Unit was established on November 24, 2009 as a proof of concept for the Chinese Congress to consider funding the possible expansion of the Chinese military via military-operated companies to help provide and generate its own supplies.

HKSDU merged into the Chinese National Defense Army on January 22, 2010.
