A relative newcomer to the UK, Lemuel Gengulfus (or LG as he prefers to be known), has quickly become one of the most active citizens of London. LG is becoming well known for his commitment to the health and well-being of newer citizens of London and the UK. He quickly became an indispensable, popular and influential figure amongst the less experienced ranks of London society.

LG was elected to Congress on his first attempt in August 2009 elections as the British Empire Party’s 3rd UK congressmen, with the highest number of votes for any wild card candidate and succeeded in achieving a concurrent second term with 30 votes in September 2009 elections.

As part of his first term, LG co-sponsored the proposal to cut VAT on food to 1%, and had a proposal to cut weapons VAT to 7% approved and voted in during the August ’09 congress. This was in line with the BEP policy of making the most important products available to citizens at as affordable a price as the market allows. Given that similarly sized nations in eRepublik usually have blanket VAT levels of 5 or 7%, LG was a strong supporter of the Treasury’s recommendation to relax the taxation in these areas.

One of LG’s primary concerns is citizen welfare. To this end in September 09, LG was elected as London’s Welcomes Councilor – tasked with welcoming and supporting new residents both in the forums and in-game, LG has continued to run the London Welcome Gifting Scheme, funding this out of his own pocket. He succeeded Finest01 on this position.

He also took major steps against the fraudulent companies that were waging economic war within the UK, such as UKNP and its sub companies. LG personally emailed all employees of UKNP’s 3 sub-companies that were level 3 or under (over 100 citizens) to warn them of the dangers of working for scam companies. He also petitioned the administrators to act, leading to a promise that such tactics would be rendered impossible once the forthcoming economics module is released.

Finally he continues to formulate plans within the BEP and UK House of Commons for an official mentoring scheme designed to bring new citizens under the guidance of senior players, in order to bring up them up to fighting strength as quickly and efficiently as possible.
