Liberaali Edistyspuolue (Liberal Advancement Party) was a free-thinking party that drives forth realistic and rational policies, and which did not force its members to follow any particular party line. Each member of the party had a right and duty to have own opinions, and the Liberal Advancement Party is above all a group of individuals. If a party member or a congressman disagrees with other party members, s/he has a full right to express his/her opinion and vote against other party members if s/he sees fit. Since its foundation til its demise, Liberal Advancement Party has been the largest political party in Finland.

Principles and policies

Even though being a liberal party that cherishes individuality, the party has gathered a group of alike-thinking people, and some policies, outlined below, are common to most if not all party members.

  • Citizen rights - Each citizen has a right to express his/her opinion on governmental policies and freedom to criticize the function of the executive branch of the government.
  • Structure of the government - Liberal Advancement Party believes in transparent, individualistic government (instead of partisan), that distributes responsibilities to many instead of few. Main criteria for government functionality are co-operation, democratic decision-making, competency, activity and flexibility.
  • Foreign policy - The main goal of the government's foreign policy should be maintaining friendly relations with those countries, who share the same interests as we do. Only be helping our allies in times of need, we can count on their support when we need it ourselves. Finland should also maintain friendly relations with other countries of the New World.
  • Market economy - Members of the party have different views regarding the market economy. Some support unrestricted and totally free, self-regulated market, while some see some degree of government control necessary. Somewhat view common to all is that the market should be as free as possible, but the government has to have a possibility to intervene when it's needed. A market economy that is as free as possible maintains the domestic markets competitive and guarantees the stay of active and productive citizens in the country.
  • Communication - It should be a goal for the government to uphold open communication from government to the people and seek ways to improve communication both in-game and in forums. Freedom of information guarantees wide-spread participation amongst all citizens and is a foundation for a transparent government.
  • Defence policy - Liberal Advancement Party supports a national army and NTJ (RRF) as it's spearhead. The army must be kept as organized entity and its funding must be secured during times of war and peace.

In Liberal Advancement Party, all party members have equal rights regarding intra-party matters. As an individual-based party, Liberal Advancement Party supports the improvement of the community and guidance of new members to politics, while maintaining the know-how and experience in form of old members. In decision-making the party aims to base its views in rational thinking, considering all options from neutral grounds and seeking the best possible outcome for the people of Finland.
