History

The New Zealand Defense Forces (NZDF) were formed on October, 6th, 2010 on the same day that New Zealand was officially introduced into the New World. It originally consisted of members from the Provisional Government but during the Presidency of Calbe this was changed and Serbian and Slovenian Kiwis joined the NZDF.

Much of the NZDF's early history was dominated by debates over its membership and the role it should play in NZ society. The unit was limited to a membership of 50, so many of its stronger members joined allied militias like the Angry Angels and the Srpski Korpus. This weakened the units' military ability and left it overshadowed by the stronger units. The NZDF also suffered from lower strength members taking part, making it viewed as the weak man of the military units.

Radical reform finally came in June, after the election of Crusadercarl as President. He campaigned on a pledge to re-organize the NZ Army. His most notable reform was spiting the NZDF into two units, the NZSF and the NZDF. The new reforms divided soldiers based upon their strength. Those with more than 2,500 joined the NZSF and the rest remained in the NZDF. This led to major growth in the NZDF membership and finally allowed it to properly organize itself. Compared to the NZSF, the NZDF dealt with more domestic issues and refrained from taking part in major international campaigns.
