Professor. Jerry Moriarty (Morr-ai-art-ay), or Prof Moriarty on the UK forums and IRC, is a United Kingdom citizen and current ESO member. His name is from the character from Sherlock Holmes, although his real life name is in fact Moriarty. To celebrate Woldy returning to the throne Moriarty was re-named Duke Moriarty, Professor of the Dark Arts.

Early Life
Moriarty discovered Erepublik on the 4th of July, 2011. Originally, he was only online occasionally, so not much can be said about his early life. However, he did join the APP that month and began his own newspaper, The Scottish Independent. It wasn't until late August that he truly began taking active part in the New World..
The UK Democratic Party Days

Moriarty had joined the APP at a crucial time. Dante Simly was beginning a transition from the dying APP party to a new, more robust party. It was at this time that Moriarty began activity on the forums, and so he played a major role in this transition. However he voted against the name, UKDP, being more in favor of "the Real Democrats". This was later suggested by Moriarty to be the name of the party newspaper. He designed the logo for both the party and its Military Unit, the UKDP Armed Brigade, which he also supplied gold for. On the 5th of September he ran for party president, but was narrowly beaten by Joshua Whelan. Moriarty continued with the party, remaining active. On the 25th of September he ran as the UKDP's only official candidate in Scotland, with his presentation being presented in a game first called Prezi. He was successful, as was party president Joshua Whelan, earning a wildcard place with 18 votes. His time in congress was largely uneventful, with him only ever chipping in once or twice.
On the 5th of October he ran for Party President of the UKDP. Against small opposition he romped to victory, with 18 votes.
Party Presidency
Moriarty had impressed in his previous few months, so when he ran the following month for party president there was no surprise when he was named as the official candidate. He won, and for the the next month looked over the affairs of the UKDP. He managed to elect one player to congress, adambertilil, but because of messy tactics the other candidates narrowly missed out. A deal was nearly struck with the UKPP to allow them to run a candidate, but this was later cancelled.
The demise of The UK Democratic Party
With the arrival of the UK Progression Party, it was never going to be long until the UKDP left the top 5. Numerous factors helped cause this. Many people left the UKRP to join the UKPP, who soon surpassed the UKDP. UK population on a whole fell, and with no chance of getting congress people started leaving. Moriarty decided to leave after Eno Live effectively took over the party, but remained in touch with his former party colleagues through the Military Unit, the UKDP Armed Brigade.
ESO
After many of the members of the UKDP effectively left, Moriarty decided to move too. For a while he contemplated who to join, but after seeing the liveliness of the ESO party he chose there. Greeted warmly, Moriarty has become one of the more vocal members, if not politically, just well-known through-out the community.
Red Versus Blue
After Talon Karrde's election and his subsequent rejection from the MoHa department to be head, Moriarty was appointed as under-minister of the new national game Red versus Blue. Opinion on this was varied, as many felt that the deposed king Woldy should remain. After the finale, which Moriarty played no part in, Woldy was elected back to the spot.
Title
On the 31st of April 2012 Moriarty was renamed Duke Moriarty, Professor of the Dark Arts by reigning king Woldy on IRC.
