The Republic of Moldova (previously known as Moldavia) is a landlocked enclave in Eastern Europe, surrounded by Romania and Ukraine.
It originally became part of Romania as a result of the Moldavia-Romania War that ended April 15, 2008. This war was really an Union through agreement between the two governments. After being ruled for 10 months by the government of Romania, Moldavia was liberated and reestablished as an independent nation as a result of Moldavian Independence War conducted by Switzerland. Then after Moldavia was taken over by Ukraine, with Romania negotiating the release of all of Moldavian territories, giving the country independence.
