What is the Swedish Nobel Prize?

The long awaited Swedish Nobel Prize has been a project that people in Hypogeum have worked with and developed since the beginning of May 2008. It was hard work all of the time, and they all had other things running parallel and because of that it was hard finding time to dedicate themselves, but they managed anyway and they all can agree that even if it was demanding at times, they had really fun making The Swedish Nobel Prize a reality.

It has to be said that the laureates know nothing of this in advance so the PMs were sent right after articles were published.

Here is a little explanation on how The Swedish Nobel Prize works. It consists of six categories: Society, Economy, Politics, Media, Peace Prize and Honorary Award.

The Categories

These are the awards and prizes that make up The Swedish Nobel Prize.

The Society Prize

The winner in this category can, for example, have done something to positively affect the influx of citizens, or perhaps helped to raise the morale throughout the society, bettered the standard for workers, or may be created a group or any other entity to help Sweden to expand socially.

The Economic Prize

This is a little tricky since the economic aspect of eRepublik is far from satisfactory, but you could say that anyone that creates a bank of high standard, writes an enriching article with an economic theme using true arguments and written in a good manner, or perhaps someone who brakes new soil and starts a stock exchange could be considered as potential and worthy winners of the economic price.

The Political Prize

The receiver of the Swedish political Nobel prize has contributed to improving and widening the political aspect of eRepublik. It can, for instance, be someone who wrote a political analytical article, anyone who has served any kind of political post with an outstanding example, or maybe an especially strategically thought out election campaign, things like these.

The Media Prize

This category can easily be misunderstood. It doesn’t necessarily have to be the person who has written the best article that receives the media prize. It goes to the person who has, by whatever means of expression, not only through articles, in the best way benefited the Swedish media and done something to further it, someone who have inspired others and helped to make the media more interesting.

The Peace Price

Well, this one is rather self-explanatory. The receiver of this prize is any person that in the best way has done something to strengthen world peace, and helped spread the non-violence.

The Honorary Award

This prize goes a person who should be awarded for his or her achievements to make this game and the life in it more interesting and rewarding. An inspiring enthusiast and someone who stands as a good example for others to follow.

Laureates of the Swedish Nobel Prize

None is more or less valuable than the others; they are all equally honourable and should be considered non-comparable.

First Prize

The award each laureate receive is first and foremost THE HONOUR, this is the true prize, but to symbolize it all there is also an award of Flag-Sweden.jpg 100 SEK to each laureate to credit for the individual’s achievement. The prize money is also to serve as a motivation for others to become involved in the game and all its aspects.

Here are the laureates of the first ever Swedish Nobel Prize!

The Society Prize

“This is the organization responsible for ‘educating’ every newly arrived citizen in Sweden. They have worked so hard in the toughest of times; back when Sweden went through the great expansion, or when the spam articles poured out from every new citizen and we needed someone to teach them, they were there! For outstanding dirty work, The Swedish Society Nobel Prize goes to... Mentor Sverige!”

The Economic Prize

“One of the most economically dedicated souls in Sweden. He has shown us that even if our country is shrinking in numbers of citizens we can still grow, grow economically. The receiver of The Swedish Economic Nobel Prize is the founder of both Svenska Riksbanken (Bank of Sweden) and Obligationssystemet (The Bond System), he is the ‘King of Cash’ and his name is... Alleus!”

The Political Prize

“This man is known for his hard-like-stone diplomacy and many respected him for the formidable force he was wielding, but it is neither of those tributes that earns him this prize, it is the person behind the granite face, his big heart, his will to serve his country, his burning devotion for politics and all achievements he made during his time in office. Put all these attributes into a single living entity and you will have a man of high valour. The Swedish Political Nobel Prize goes to... Ziggyzag!”

The Media Prize

“Even if some got burnt occasionally, he was the light in our medial darkness. A man worthy of sanctification. He brought up heavy and grey issues with great enthusiasm and phenomenal humour and taught us to loosen up. With such a great mark he has left us all with his name will echo through time and we will always remember him as the reincarnation of the Latin saying: “Uno sed leo” (One, but a lion). The Swedish Media Nobel Prize goes to... Grev Per!”

The Peace Prize

This price has been withdrawn. We had a suitable laureate, Stason and his charity organization Global mana, but unfortunately, he died some time ago. So we went back to scratch and we could simply not find anyone worthy of this prize. Therefore we will keep the Flag-Sweden.jpg 100 SEK that served as prize money and add it to the next edition of The Swedish Nobel Prize, so that the laureate of the peace price then will receive an extra Flag-Sweden.jpg 100 SEK! So get out there and do some good deeds!

The Honorary Award

“It was not long ago that he joined eRepublik as a rookie. Now he is one of the most active and devoted citizens in Sweden. He is a fierce soldier, an eloquent congressman and politician, a talented writer and a hard worker. He is active in all kinds of discussions outside eRepublik, you will run into him in the Swedish forum where he delivers his thoughts and ideas in a mature and clever manner. The Swedish Nobel Prize’s Honorary Award goes to a man which devotion to the game is exemplary, a man formally known as Jemtlandica... Misho!”

Second Prize

In November 2008, the Second Prize was given. The laureates of the Second prize will receive: First and foremost THE HONOR, this is the true prize, but there is an award of money to symbolize it all. Each laureate will be awarded Icon - Gold.gif 17.5 GOLD, Flag-Sweden.jpg 101.9 SEK and Flag-Denmark.jpg 10.6 DKK (All my money + governmental subsidies + donation from Cristesco) to credit for the individual’s achievements. The prize money is also to serve as motivation for others to become more active and contributing to the game in its many aspects.

The laureates of the Second Prize are:

The Society Prize

“In a world where everything is bleak and white and sometimes chaotic, we all need someone to add some colour and keep order. Always a driving force in the political world, as well as an active member of the Swedish police force, her dedication and charming manners, makes Swedish society just a little more pleasant, no matter what. Both clever and cuddly. The Swedish Society Nobel Prize goes to... Betamjau!”

The Economic Prize

“For his devotion and hard work in stabilizing the Flag-Sweden.jpg SEK and safeguarding the Swedish economy as well as managing the national treasury (Riksbanken) in a most formidable manner. His expertise held us on a steady course and he took us through hard times as well. Without him, our economy would surely have crumbled even before V1. We have crowned a new “King of Cash” and his name is... Karl Holm!”

The Political Prize

“Despite adversity and opposition, this man has always worked as hard as anyone for what he believes to be the best for e-Sweden. He works tirelessly on the constitution and organization of the government and has contributed a disproportionate amount of good things to this country, despite always being a part of the opposition in Congress. This is a man of great respect and high valour. The Swedish Political Nobel Prize goes to... The Herminator!”

The Media Prize

Be it propaganda, ordering troops, or simply satire, his articles have held a standard few can hope to attain and even gained more votes than eRepublik Insider. He gave us laughs in wartime, when victory seemed far away he offered hope and morale was boosted. If any man is worthy of winning two Nobel prizes, this is the one... Misho!”

The Peace Prize

“For his "Pay it forward" initiative where one sends one gift to three different people with the stipulation that they do the same with three additional people, this man receives the Peace Prize for making a strong gesture to make people come together and bring a little harmony into the world. The first laureate ever to receive The Swedish Nobel Peace Price ever... Hador!”

The Honorary Award

“The forums at Erepublik.se are the foundation on which the cornerstones of e-Sweden have been placed. The Swedish society would not be what it is today without these forums and the man who makes it all possible deserves recognition for his work. Also, for his tireless work and patience, it is only fitting that The Swedish Nobel Honorary Award goes to... DaZam!”

The Grand Nobel Banquettes

On Sunday, the 6th of July, 19:30, GMT+1 (or day 228, 10:10 in eRepublik time) a “banquette” for the laureates of the First Prize was held in a separate IRC-channel. Everyone was invited! There were people from all over the world there. The banquette was officially opened a couple of hours before the stated time, but at the time mentioned above the THANK SPEECHES took place, this was where each laureate had some time to make a little speech of his own, classy eh? Loads of gifts were handed to random people at the banquette.

The same banquette happened for the laureates of the Second Prize on Monday the 10th of November, 20:00, GMT+1 (or Monday the 10th of November, 11:00 in eRepublik server-time).
