To do

Add to this page the information from: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/congressional-elections-improvements-693809/1 --Belea2008 23:19, 1 November 2008 (EET)

Do we really need this page? All of the same information seems to be on Voting system and Congress.--QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 05:35, 28 January 2009 (PST)
Not really. Merge the information and make some redirects. Need any help? --Geo "Talk Pages" Belea 05:42, 28 January 2009 (PST)

Congress elections after a wipe

http://api.erepublik.com/v2/feeds/battles/12964
Switzerland was on the map again after the battle <finished-at>2011-09-23T21:08:05-04:00</finished-at>
and the war http://api.erepublik.com/v2/feeds/wars/9750 ended at <finished-at>2011-09-23T21:07:03-04:00</finished-at>
Still it wasn't able to hold Congress elections.
Does somebody know the exact rule?

Is the timestamp, expressed in server time, equal to the 24th around 0:07-0:08 and did the battle thus end only a few minutes late for Congress elections to happen? - Ward De Bever 03:34, 24 September 2011 (PDT)
Yes, since the battle win was a few minutes late after congress elections stopped allowing candidates, it now means that Switzerland won't be able to run candidates until next month. -- Icon-Belgium.png Mikhail Alexander 03:37, 24 September 2011 (PDT)
Thanks for your explanation Mikhail. But upon further inspection, I think the API timestamps correspond to the 23rd around 18:07-18:08 server time (-3 and not +3 offset for server time). So shouldn't the Congress elections have happened anyway? Or is the rule maybe that a country needs to exist on the 23rd at 02:00 server time? I'm still confused. - Ward De Bever 08:48, 24 September 2011 (PDT)

There's three possibilities:

  1. The API timestamps are completely wrong
  2. There's a bug in game
  3. No one applied for candidacy

My guess is the bug one. The API timestamps and in-game timestamps seem to match fairly good:

  • API 2011-09-23T21:08:05-04:00 --> 23rd 18:08:05 (EREP)
  • Game (last round started) Fri, 23 Sep 2011 16:29:02 -0700 --> Add the estimated length of the round (1h39m) and we get the same time: 23rd 18:08:05 EREP

So it seems pretty clear that there's either some bug OR no one applied as candidate (which is very unlikely if you trying to get regions released for elections :D). Or then the wildcard: rules have changed and no one has been notified about them. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 00:49, 25 September 2011 (PDT)

Hello, this is Rican (10 time congressman of Switzerland). We regained our region in plenty of time to candidate but the game would not let us. Many of us sent a ticket to admin, but we doubt they will do anything to correct it. Thank you Ward, for bringing this up.

If you applied for Congress in your Party and the region from where you applied is conquered until 25th of the month at 00:00, you will lose candidacy. You can avoid this situation if you are located in another region from your citizenship country until 25th of the month at 00:00.

Note: Once removed from the list, you can not be added unless you reapply.

If you applied from a region belonging to a foreign country, last region where you resided in is considered your application region. --Icon-Romania.png elbandido 16:48, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
