Guidelines for Adding a New Language

Starting January 2010 These are the guidelines for adding a new language to the eRepublik Wiki:

  • Language cannot be a dialect, Mutually intelligible as a language already in use, or a dead language.
  • At least 20 articles from Category:Playing the Game translated in that language (The translations should be in user sandboxes)
  • At least three active translators for that language
  • Prove that the eRepublik community has at least 100 active citizens (link to the national forum, chat, etc, where the people use that language and the number of the members is higher than 100)

Please contact one of the eRepublik:Administrators if you have any questions or leave a message here.

Македонски јазик / Macedonian language

Will you add Macedonian language?

We all know that if a new country is added it will be eMacedonia so let us prepare some help to new users --Macedonian_Lion20px 23:19, 25 December 2009 (UTC)

I think that Erepublik Wiki should help for all Erepublik citizens not only for they who have country, Erepublik Team said that must have 300+ unique IP's from one country, then make Erepublik Wiki Macedonian page to we Macedonians players from Republic of Macedonia to be able to translate pages, to come more new citizens and to be easy for them.

Add Macedonian language we have 4-5 persons in team, and we will work that on that.--Martin Davitkovski20px 23:45, 25 December 2009 (UTC)

At the rate things are going, this game is bound to be one of the most popular browser-based games in Macedonia. It is awfully illogical to not have the Erepublik Wiki translated to Macedonian, since the key to success in this game is having the proper information, and who needs information more than the babies. Conclusion? We need a Wiki page in Macedonian. --Toneh20px

Add Macedonian language to the erepublik Wiki for the new citizens from Macedonia --thedragon20px 18:43, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

If macedonia is going to be added to erep in a short time we can consider adding it to the wiki. Anyway, you can ask Admin for a definitive answer --Mini "Template" Bill Icon-Italy.png bother me! 10:16, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

If admins want more citizens from Macedonia they should approve to Macedonian language, really i think its not a problem if admins make here our language, that will only improve Erepublik and Erepublik Wiki.--Martin Davitkovski20px 20:22, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

I think it is only fair NOT to add anything that will include the name "Macedonia" and it will not be according to at least the UN decisions. I am Greek and I am Macedonian, for us it is a matter of principle and order. All the more, it is also a matter of abiding with international law. And at the moment, not even one international organisation recognises the state of FYROM with the name of Macedonia. I kindly ask you to remove the language ball that says "Macedonian". You can instead replace it with the word "Slavomacedonian" as it is used until a viable and permanent solution is given to the issue of the name of FYROM state. Makedonissa 18:24, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Your argument is flawed. Whatever they say about the state name, almost every international organisation calls this language (just to be clear and neutral, this is the language spoken in the country which calls itself the Republic of Macedonia, but is recognised by several states as the FYROM) Macedonian, including the United Nations ([1], look at page 5 for example. The report calls the country FYROM throughout, but refers to the people as Macedonians and the Macedonian language.) This issue is separate from whatever the country is called. The language is called Macedonian, whatever the country is called.
Now, as for the name of the country (as I know this is going to come up), we will use whatever the eRepublik Admins call it. Now, since the Admins have not implemented it yet (although it must be high on the list), then it is up to us. To be honest, do you really find offensive that the file is called Icon-Macedonia as opposed to Icon-Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia? How often do you see the file name anyway? If there was a page called Macedonia about the country, then you would have grounds to complain, but really does the file name matter?
Finally, I hope the above text is read as neutrally as possible. This is a Real Life debate that should not really be part of the eRepublik game, let alone the wiki.--Martin23230 20:26, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
"in the country which calls itself the Republic of Macedonia, but is recognised by several states as the FYROM"
Yes, it`s recognised by few states with the name former yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (but no with FYROM (!)) but also it`s recognised by 127 countries (3/4 of the Earth population) with the name Republic of Macedonia. And they are United States of America, UK, China, Russia, Canada, Argentina, Czech Republic, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Poland, Romania (we all know that this is a Romanian web site!;) ), Slovakia, Sweden, Turkey, etc., 127 countries they all say Republic of MACEDONIA :)
All international media (TV or newspapers or web sites) are using Republic of Macedonia or the short name Macedonia.
Facebook, YouTube, Google, they all use Macedonia. --lazarosaMKD20px

lazaros I am not goingto comment that, thats not the issue here and even if it was, what you use doesnt constitute an argument. For Martin's arguments now. As for the icon, yes I find it very offensive to use the filename "Macedonia" since there isnt any such country yet recognised by the international authorities responsible for this kind of recognitions. Actually it looks more offensive than the language issue, in which I have to admit that there might be organisations that refer to it as "macedonian", but the sum of linguists from all over the world put it under the slavic languages category. So in my opinion, and since the real Macedonian language was a doric (meaning Greek) idiom, identifying a slavic language as "macedonian" is half the truth and it only serves RL issues of political propaganda. I think that until eRep reaches a decision on the issue, it would not be wise to provoke with such actions.Makedonissa 20:09, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

Greek Nationalism is retarded as hell. If the people of the Republic of Macedonia want to call themselves that then that is what they are called. You have no more a say in this then if you demanded that South Africa call itself Lalafoa because you 'preferred it'. You're opinion is meaningless because this issue doesn't effect you in the least. Keep it up and soon half the world will just start demanding Greece be renamed to Lower Serbia because 'hey, the term Greece offends us for no discernable reason'. Breton Boy 12:47, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

I am sorry but I cannot lower my level that much as to answer you. Just a look at your profile is enough for an answer for someone that is talking about retarded nationalism Makedonissa 09:26, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

I agree with Breton Boy, Greece is retarded they recognise Macedonian people, Macedonian passport if i want to go in Greece there write Language: Macedonian, Nationality: Macedonian, Country: Republic of Macedonia so what you want here to discuss more ?--Martin Davitkovski20px 15:26, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Iran

Wrong flag on Iran I believe --Aryamehr Flag of Iran talk 21:47, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Why? I guess it should follow RL flag, because we're talking about the RL language. Just my opinion, though --Mini "Template" Bill Icon-Italy.png bother me! 19:50, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
Please pick one. Not that I would understand the subject though, I don't know which flag is "official". But it's strange, both File:Icon-فارسی.png and File:Icon-Iran.png seem to have "Lion and Sun Flag" but when I watch Iranian flag on LangMenu, I see "Third Colour Flag". Category:National Icons had only one Iranian flag so are there three Iranian ballflags uploaded or am I missing something? Which is the one LangMenu uses? --Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 20:26, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
For the language, we are going with the standard flag of the country. All other pages are the flag you changed it to, Aryamehr. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 03:33, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

Georgian / ქართული

I want Erepublik Wiki articles in Georgian.

wiki.erepublik.com/ArticleName/ქართული For the Georgian flag: Icon-Georgia.png

Have you read the requirements a language must meet in order to be accepted? Are there other Georgian translators, and is there enough players who speak that language? Also, please translate articles in your user namespace until we reach a decision. --Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 15:30, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
In short: I moved Georgian pages to his namespace. He redirected them back to main namespace and started vandalizing Finnish pages. I gave him a one day vacation so it seems we don't have any Georgian editors. Anyway, after that kind of behavior it's very unlikely that I will be voting in favor of adding this language. --Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 16:09, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Montenegrin/црногорски,

Will you add Montenegrin language.

With the Montenegro Flag: Icon-Montenegro.png

Montenegro will be aded in 1051 Day of The New World.

And we need the Montenegrin language.

.--Icon-Montenegro.png Heracles 14:42, 1 Octomber 2010 (UTC)

Montenegrin seems to be mutually intelligible with Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian, though only when written in latin alphabets. Am I correct? However, we do have Croatia and Serbia as two different languages so I guess there's enough difference to have Montenegrin as it's own language? So, please follow the guidelines in the top of the page: bring us enough active editors to translate and update pages, translate enough articles in your user namespace, and give us a link to your country's community page.--Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 13:25, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

Chinese Traditional

Please use the RoC (Taiwan) flag for Traditional Chinese.

    • You can add Cantonese with Hong Kong flag.

I hope Q J will be active on the Wiki. :) Q J leave eRepublik but I believe that she's active on the wiki :)

Danish language/Dansk sprog

Denmark exists in eRepublik, but Danish language is not added. You can add Danish language.

e.g.: article/Dansk

the flag icon: Icon-Denmark.png —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bora Can ASLI (talkcontribs)

Read the requirements before suggesting new languages. Do you have 20 articles from Category:Playing the Game in your sandbox translated into Danish? Do you have 3 active translators? Can you prove that you have at least 100 active native Danish citizens? I don't think you have complied all requirements. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 12:54, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

Hebrew/עברית

Dear Admins,

We need translation to hebrew!!

There are alot of Israelis in the game and we need to make it more avilable!

Allow translation for Israelis and none Israelis and make eWiki a more available place to all!

Israel exists in the New World but the official language of Israel, which is Hebrew (עברית) does not! why?

So i'm asking you, put Hebrew for translation.

I have my translations in my Sandbox: http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/User:MickyIsrael/Sandbox

Emorfion also got translated pages on his page: http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/User:Emorfion#Pages_in_Hebrew

Rest of the pages have been translated by many other translators and posted in our national forum.

Here is out national forum: http://www.fxp.co.il/forumdisplay.php?f=1644 which have more than 100 users.

And one last thing: If you add Hebrew can you change the side of the text so it will fit RTL languages? --MickyIsrael 21:06, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

Hebrew reimplemented. I have also moved all sandbox articles to the correct place and created the language category. Good luck in translating. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 15:16, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

Thank you very much. I have more one request, could you add [right] [right/] tags, or something like this that will help us with the difficulties of writing RTL (Right to Left)? when including english in a few places, it mess up the whole sentence.

Arabic - عربي

i will be translating over 20 articles in the next week, into arabic, i need to know where i should present them... Arab League 14:08, 17 January 2011 (UTC)--

I support Arabic! Lately Arab League posted a language request in the forums (http://forum.erepublik.com/showthread.php/111165-Add-Arabic-on-Wiki-and-eRepublik-Languages...-%D8%A3%D8%B6%D8%A7%D9%81%D8%A9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B9%D8%B1%D8%A8%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D9%84%D9%84%D8%BA%D8%A7%D8%AA-%D9%88%D9%8A%D9%83%D9%8A-%D9%88-%D8%A5%D9%8A-%D8%B1%D9%8A%D8%A8%D8%A7). Grzechooo said that he will deal with that. So please allow Arabic in eRepublik. The suffix of Arabic is Arabiyyah (عربي). ---Archangel Uriel Icon-Egypt.png talk with me/my wiki page
