Updates

June 2010

Implemented by --DanielDimow||Speak to me. 17:49, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Pages that do not use this will have to be manually updated. Also, this template is creating a category other than the ones we have created... Military of Country. If you want to change this, you are more than welcome to apply the new template to ALL of the military pages so that they go into the right category.

Ready for Implementation

Working Order

Template works fine and is ready for implemention. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk to me! 16:25, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Could you add a variable for official military or private military org? Good work! Also have you thought that maybe each template should have a different color? Citizen Blue, Org Red, Military X? Just a thought. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 16:32, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
The Military unit is not a organisation, if there is a organisation that is a another page. As regards to colours, I have disabled changing it and far as I am aware we want to keep the blue of the merges it into eRepublik scheme better. - Abedecian ~ Flag-UK.jpg Talk to me and you get cake! Cake.png 19:45, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Actually, we are discussing changing the colors for each template for identification at a glance as to type of page. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 18:03, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
WEll if you choose, let me know, it's really simple to change the colours. - Abedecian ~ Flag-UK.jpg Talk to me and you get cake! Cake.png 20:13, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
Lease change the category to "Military of X" because that is the naming scheme we have set up already. [1]. By changing the category each of these categories will have to be deleted and new categories created. If you choose to do so. It will be your responsibility. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 18:03, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
I am not sure what the current scheme is for military, if you give me it I would be happy to adapt it to suit. - Abedecian ~ Flag-UK.jpg Talk to me and you get cake! Cake.png 20:13, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

How about adding Founder(s) variable? What do you think? Rocco Granata 20:42, 30 April 2010 (UTC) Founders? what for? can you give a example? - Abedecian ~ Flag-UK.jpg Talk to me and you get cake! Cake.png 21:00, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

For example, almost all of the Romanian military units like Soimii Patriei, Vanatorii de Munte, Dracones etc. - Rocco Granata 08:13, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
I was unclear when I said "military org" what I meant was, can a variable be introduced so that the military unit can be marked as official state controlled military or privately run (paramilitary, run by a party, etc)? --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 18:05, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
Added 'controlledby' variable which solves both of your issues and keeps the party varaible working - Abedecian ~ Flag-UK.jpg Talk to me and you get cake! Cake.png 10:39, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Purpose of Category

What is the purpose of this? Category:Military Units in ... It creates very small categories, usually with one page in it. I don't see how this could be helpful to users. I suggest you remove that party of the code. --QJ Lincoln 08:14, 14 October 2008 (PDT)

Redesign Summer 2009

The Fields:

 name= |
 dates= |
 formation= |
 disbanded= |
 logo= |
 country= |
 branch= |
 type= |
 party= |
 hq= |
 nickname= |
 motto= |
 colors= |
 soldiers= |
 current= |
 past= |

Proposal:

  • Remove:Dates, Party, Current and Past
  • Add:Automatic Category to be "Military Unit of Country", Rename template to be "Military Unit"

Explanation: Dates, useless because you have formed and disbanded, Party, not used, Current and Past are for leaders, but this is hard to keep updated and it confuses most people. Currently this page is not automatically categorized and most people forget to do so.--QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 14:19, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

I disagree, it is used fully for different purposes. Check Azandicas. I'm not for the "Military Unit of Country" because some military units are not part of any country.
Esteban Delgado 18:22, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
99.9% are. And even if they are not officially a country's military, then most of the soldiers are from the same country which could be noted in the type field. No matter what, this template needs an automatic category. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 14:21, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
This was made based on the Infobox military unit from wikipedia. It encompasses all military units, not just national armies. October 18, 2008, you said this didn't need the category you are talking about so we took it out.
--Esteban Delgado
Actually, I believe the the category created was "military units in (hq)". So that placed the military units in particular regions. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 23:01, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Added "|flag=" to the code

So that we can have things such as the Royal Navy page, with an Emblem and an Ensign. :) John F Baker 21:16, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Request

Please modify the code so that more than one home countries can be named (for international military units, such as the Polish–Hungarian Legion, and so that more than one leader can be used (for obvious reasons). –Tomeczek 00:44, 14 May 2011 (PDT)

Second commander

Units can have two second commanders, any you can only name one here. That should be corrected. --Icon-Montenegro.png Bogohulja | Talk 08:00, 2 September 2013 (PDT)

Recruitment

Time to add recruitment=open/restricted/invitation.
Where do we add it though, general informations or structure?
