eBelgium was in the midst of war when Viridi joined the game. The war, which is sometimes referred to as the Dutch War of Aggression or the War of the Beers, was a conflict fought between Belgium and the Netherlands in March 2014. The events surrounding the war proved to be an interesting time for Belgium who at that point tried to maintain neutrality and avoid being involved in wars, especially the ones between Terra/EDEN and ONE.

Early Life

Belgium was in the midst of War of the Beers when Viridi joined the game.

In an attempt to become more involved in the inner-workings of government, Viridi was chosen to serve as a deputy minister in the Foreign Affairs ministry in April 2012 under the government of BrunoCND; however, nothing came of it and much of the work was done by the head minister.

Politics

Viridi was a member of several parties during his political career, including:

Congress

Viridi started his career in politics when he first ran for Congress in April 2012, a mere month after he had joined the game. He joined The Om party and ran under their banner as a result of becoming friends with GoopyPants - the party president and former country president. Many proposals and laws were reviewed by Congress during April, and by the end of the term, Viridi had voted on many bills, such as voting to increase the Citizen Pack programme, voting for the subsidy to encourage Belgians to use the PULSE programme, and voting against the Boost Tax Programme.

Viridi ran for a second term in Congress in July 2012. Very few laws were passed by Congress this month; however, a new immigration system was set up, the PULSE subsidy was annulled, and new justices for the Belgian Supreme Court were elected by Congress.

Government Work

When in August 2012 Requiem Domine was elected as the President of Belgium, Viridi became the Minister of Home Affairs. Viridi had not previously served as a minister, nor in the MoHA department. During the term, Viridi hosted the 4th BoDi Awards, which saw the citizens of Belgium voting for their favourite citizen in nine different aspects of eRepublik. Additionally, the ministry began messaging all new citizens in an attempt to help new players learn how to play the game, as well as increase the likelihood of their retention into the game.

In September 2012, Viridi continued his role as Minister of Home Affairs under the government of Nohjis, and as a result, much of the work done in the previous month continued into September.

After the September 2012 term had come to conclusion, Viridi signed up to work as an under-minister in the Ministry of Defence during the month of October 2012; however, much like in April 2012 when Viridi was an under-minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, not very much work was done by Viridi.

Immigration to the UK

On the 27 October 2012, Viridi began the first of many trips back and forth between the United Kingdom and Belgium. His application for citizenship was accepted by Thedark ace. Viridi spent the next few months in relative peace in the United Kingdom, where he joined the United Kingdom Reform Party. In January 2013, Viridi returned to Belgium for one day in an effort to prevent his military unit - Green Militia - from being sold to the government of Belgium and then disbanded. He was able to regain leadership of the MU.

On the 20 March 2013, Viridi returned to Belgium.
