How to make a portal?

Srachit showed me a tutorial on this wiki a good while ago, but I can't find it anywhere :( Anyone know where it is? - Icon-UK.png John F Baker Icon-South Africa.png talk/British Army librarian 12:31, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Few announcements and debates

OK, in last few days, weeks and months there were a lot of things to do... I would thank all editors that have updated new and old articles, archived the old one and battled with the templates. Special thanks, as always, goes to our admins that have decided to do some stupid things... Or was it smart? Mahh, who knows these days... As today I am quite busy in real life, I am going to write several announcements so that you know what will be happening in next few days and few debates in which I would appreciate your input. Thank you. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 08:51, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

New rewards

New rewards will be announced tomorrow so edit like hell today. :) --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 08:51, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Proposal for September awards is published, please take the time to see it and tell us where do you want your rewards! --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 10:55, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

Links to old articles

I would ask you, when you update an article, please see is there an article of the same name in the one namespace. There is no need to this without updates because it is very low priority. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 08:51, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Decreasing redirects

As you could see, I was decreasing redirects in last few days, especially the ones leading to the one namespace. I will continue to do this next week so I hope that we will be back under 200 redirects soon. :) --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 08:51, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Debate1: Implementation of new namespace - Rising

Yes, only few weeks of the previous implementation of the new namespace have bring us to the new dilema... Should we create new namespace called RISING? As you know our beautiful admins have decided to implement rising few months ago which was in fact like a completely new car - with new body work, new engine and better performances. And with only two months online, they have decided to replace some things so we have another, I can't say new car, but different car. :D --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 08:51, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

+1 There are several articles (around 20 without translations) that should be moved so with translations we will have a decent number of articles to move. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 08:51, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
In a week or so they will bring back a V1-beta mix so what's the point?--Quicksilver 10:25, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
The point is that now we have som kind of a V2.1, and everything else is no longer valid! So, +1 ~~ Icon-Romania.png McKayRO|Say hello! 10:56, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

0 Creating a new namespace creates too much work --Belea2008 10:03, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
+0.5 While "it creates too much work" isn't really a valid reason to decide not to do something, I see what you mean. Creating a new namespace for Rising's removed features would be a lot of work, but what's important is that it would probably be a wasted effort concidering the gain. Yes, Time Management, Happines, the new battlefield etc. were Rising features, but now that they're/will be removed, they should be archived in the category Category:Removed features. I, however, suggest we add a notice template to them explaining their history; when were they added, and when and why they were removed. I also suggest than in the distant future eRepublik V3 arrives and we're forced to make a new namespace to archive Rising pages, these pages will then be moved there. Of course you could argue that what's the point of just "sweeping this matter under the carpet", but I think it would be a good compromise. A new version will be a huge job again, and we're after all talking only about a couple of pages. A little more work then won't hurt anybody, and Timeoin and sampo already worked their busy asses off with One namespace. I'm sure they'll do it again. :P--Icon-Finland.png Kuhaa|sTalk to me! 14:51, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
I just noticed this: Template:+0.5 - nice touch! --Belea2008 19:27, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

As people are undecided, new namespace WON'T be created at this time. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 16:56, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Debate2: Creation of basic info pages of the old versions of the eRepublik

When eRepublik Rising article was created, honestly I didn't see the point of having it. But now I am wondering... Could we create Beta and V1 articles which would have basic informations of the versions (the period when they were used, how many persons were in it, maybe some screenshots - like Beleas above, links to some important articles in their namespaces, and some interesting facts). What do you think? --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 08:51, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Debate4: Categories: New Category? + removal of some categories

Hi guys, I edited the wiki page of one of my orgs today and also tried to categoriez it. Because of the Org-Template it was categorized as "Organisation of Germany". As in the German Forums and on the IRC people now and than start asking for Money and Loans to start companies, I was wondering wether it would make sense to categorize certain orgs as "Banks of XYZ". I am not realy familiar with the way how you decide wether a category or site is worth not being deleted. I made my experience here lately so I am kind of sceptical when it comes to adding anything I consider being helpful to user.--GeBe 13:34, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

We don't need to make new categories for banks. The Organizations of X is enough for orgs. Imagine how many categories there would be in this wiki if there would be categories for everything. Just adding the banks cat would bring ~60 new cats. So -1 for Banks of X cat. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 13:47, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
So you consider "Being a member of Party XYZ" worth ~2000 cats but adding a cat that people might actually search for not? --GeBe 13:51, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
The difference between being a member of a party and being a bank is that being a party member is a game feature - being a bank isn't. And this wiki is about eRepublik. But remember, this is just my own opinion. The others might have different kind of an opinion. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 18:01, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Gebe - dont take it the wrong way. Perhaps if there was enough call for this category (i.e. there were many pages for the many different banks out there? As it stands though, most countries have very few organisations at all (if any) - let along banks. Currently (please correct if wrong) there are not even 5 banks with pages on the wiki? --Icon-Australia.png Timeoin|Say G'Day 06:11, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
Gebe, I am also against category banks of... But I would be for category Banks... Only banks... There are not so much banks described in the wiki so this few could be a great addition... +1 I am in favor of removing categorization of the party members of X... It doesn't have any sense... People move often, or switch parties for fun, so you can be sure in which party are they. And we already have party orientatition and party of country X for the parties, and citizens and citizen of country X for the people. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 08:57, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

I think it's amazing that Wikipedia has been so successful, but I am more interested in my own community's success. What's of real value is what people did to be more successful, not who is more successful than the others. MediaWiki For a page to be considered an article, or proper content, it must:
  • Be in the main namespace, or a defined content namespace
  • Not be a redirect page

Citizen template

[LivingCitizen]
McKayRO made an extension to the citizen template. As the template is used in thousands of pages, I reverted the edits as there were no discussion and it didn't even work right (First testing in sandbox, then discussion and implementing). It was adding that bar to pages that were dead. I personally think that it's not worth putting a big bar to tell that the citizen is living. It would make more sense if he/she is dead. I suggest that the citizen template will be protected that only sysops can edit it. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 04:38, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

Actually, that was my brother. I left my pc on logged in. I appolngize for that! ~~ Icon-Romania.png McKayRO|Say hello! 05:20, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
0 Regarding protection. Do how you think is best... (advantage of protection: removes possibility of user error; disadvantage: adds limitation to an "open" project).
My opinion: it is not worth putting a bar at all. It is in game information - you can click on the link in the Citizen Template and find it out in 2 seconds. It is written also in some citizen templates; the death time. Some citizen pages have also an entire section dedicated to death of the citizen and such. Also, we have this: http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Category:Deceased --Belea2008 09:08, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
I'd like this page to be protected because other common templates (Organization, Company) are also protected. The citizen template is used more than those two and it's not protected. If I remember correctly, this was left unprotected so engineers could fix bugs and other things that needed fixing... --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 12:17, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

Goodbye

Well, today is my last day. I have added information to my user talk page for the sysops. I listed all of the things that I did to keep things running smoothly. I feel like I am leaving the wiki in good hands.

  • AndyCro, MiniBill, Belea2008 thank you so much for your support.
  • Thanks to all of the dedicated editors who brought big ideas and helped with templates and some of the more administrative duties. You know who you are.
  • To those that I irritated or angered, I apologize. My intentions were always what was for the entire wiki. (Except maybe "The Emperor" because he made it personal)
  • To those that flirted, teased, sweet-talked, and faux-worshiped me. You flattered me deeply.
  • I am really proud of the work that we have done here. I think when I started the wiki had a few hundred articles. Now we are coming close to 14000!!! The wiki is an important feature of this game and should not be neglected.
  • Belea, give George Lemnaru a big kiss for me (and take a picture 'cause that would be hilarious)
  • Oh yeah, to the people in the UK, quit over categorizing everything!

If anyone wants to contact me, in the future, you can ask around for my Facebook or IM info. Keep working on the wiki. Keep editing, writing, debating, and templating. Make me proud! Thanks a lot, QJ --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 20:35, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

Alliances changes

  • "Original region rule" (the fact that alliances become active only when the attacker attacks an original region of the defender) - REMOVED - The alliances become active no matter if the region is original or not
  • "Common border rule" (the fact that a new war between one of the two countries directly involved in the initial war and the allies is opened if they share common border) - No new war will be automatically started anymore - REMOVED
  • Alliances are also activated for the attacker when they attack a region
  • OLD RULE (reminder) - "Initiative rule" - If a country declares a war on another country, they will have the initiative only for 24 hours since the war started. If 24 hours pass, no initiative rule exists anymore. If 24 hours pass, the two sides can attack each other without any "initiative rule"

Q: If COUNTRY A and COUNTRY B have both an alliance with COUNTRY C, and COUNTRY A attacks COUNTRY B, what happens to the alliance between B (the defender) and C?

A: It will be completely deleted (the alliance between B - defender - and C). In these types of cases, the alliance between A (attacker) and C will be completely deleted.

Macedonia dispute

The Admins have announced that they are adding the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to eRepublik, and that they will not engage [themselves] into any debate about this topic. Therefore I request that the page The Republic of Macedonia be moved back to Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, all edits since I started the page be reverted and the page be move-locked and monitored in the future. Personal views and Real Life issues should not come into this wiki, and we should go by what the Admin says. I would also suggest warning User:Macedonian Lion and User:MakedonecMKD for the edits to the page since I created it. I would be happy to add the Admin's disclaimer from the Insider article to the page, with a small section on what to call it within the game.--Martin23230 06:57, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

Macedonian Lion, lets be patient and we have to see what the hell will admins do (they are mysterious for us all). I would recommend that you can start creating Macedonian country article in your usersandbox and we (sysops/uber editors) will move it to the correct place when Admins finally implement new countries. Does this sound better to you? Because at this moment only basic information (basic map, region info and country info are on the current page) and it will have to be updated. If any addition to Macedonia (Will it be republic of Macedonia, FYROM, Macedonia sexy country or whatever Admins decide) it will be very easy to correct this in your sandbox page. Congress question

Q: 'I was just wondering because I can't find it anywhere in the game help. In game, if your in Congress in one party, then leave that party and join another while your still in Congress. Will you still be in Congress? Or as soon as you leave your current party while your still in Congress it kicks you out? I tried looking through the Wiki but it doesn't say anything about that. Your help would be appreciated.'

A: If you leave your party, you will not lose the Congress seat. The only way to lose that sit is to resign from Congress. --Belea2008 14:16, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Laws - time of voting

Q: How is possible to law proposal pass after only 1 hour of voting? http://www.dodaj.rs/f/3p/Tq/2wvLEAir/untitled.jpg

A: In case of "Buy constructions" laws, the 24 hours period of voting was removed. Thus, if a law has enough votes to pass, it will be declared as accepted sooner than the usual 24 hours. See comments below for complete information. --Belea2008 12:53, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Q: "Please note that I am aware of the issue you are linkiing, but that's not what the issue is. Please provide documentation where could be seen that voting of the TWO SAME TYPE LAWS can be voted in PARALLEL.

A: "Buy constructions" laws are considered special laws. As mentioned, the 24 hours period was removed. In special cases, the president can propose multiple laws in parallel. These changes were made in order to have a faster placing of hospital and defensive system (specifically) and to have faster paced military module (in general). --Belea2008 11:13, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

If a "Buy construction" law is proposed, it can be proposed for free and the voting period is 24 hours.
A second one can be proposed (of the same type) (in the same time), but it costs Gold to propose it and its voting period lasts for one hour.
If the voting period of the second one is finished, another "special one" (costs Gold, voting time of one hour) can be proposed.

Need feedback on polices

I have been finishing my work on the help pages and policy pages. I would like some feedback on eRepublik:Wiki Page Policies. We agreed several months on these policies. The only one that still needs input is on templates eRepublik:Wiki_Page_Policies#Templates. I believe that we can come up with some general guidelines for templates. Please provide input for these questions:

In what circumstances should templates be created? I think that they should only be created when used on more than one page.
In what circumstances should templates not be created? I can't think of anything.
How should templates be used?
Any other input.

Thanks! --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 18:59, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

"I think that they should only be created when used on more than one page." +1 I'd phrase it as "more than one project", for lack of better wording. If it's only used for, say, one country's ministerial pages, they can make a subpage and use that as a template. If it is intended for use across the board in different countries' governmental pages, THEN it'd warrant a template, IMO.
If it's a template for citizen pages (e.g a medal), then it needs to be used for more than one person, obviously. - Icon-UK.png John F Baker Icon-South Africa.png talk/British Army librarian 19:51, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
Read them all. They "look" (sound) good to me. No questions or suggestions for now! Well done (again), QJ! --Belea2008 09:47, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
Sounds good to me also. I would maybe add "Templates should be created to make editor's task easier by reducing repetetive actions on more than one article" and maybe some links to the most used templates? --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 16:56, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Portals and WikiProjects

We also need policies on these items

Portals are X that allow the user to navigate to a series of related pages. Portals are not a replacement for categories. Pages that link to a portal must be created before a portal....

What else?

WikiProjects are projects where a group of editors join to work on a specific topic, such as Norway or Politics. Members of these groups can create a project page and create badges for members to put on their USER page. Pages monitored or edited by a wikiproject team should NOT put a "Wikiproject of X category on pages. However, users are free to note on categories that the items in that category are part of Wikiproject X. Anything Else?

--QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 19:19, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

I would add a minimum number of pages related to a topic (for a portal to be created) and a minimum number of daily active contributors (for a Wiki project to be created). --Belea2008 09:49, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
I like what was said here, maybe the number of ad least 10 pages and 3 active editors would be enough. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 16:56, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

New countries

So, we'll have some new countries added to eRepublik:

Here's what we should do:

  • Make flagballs
  • Find someone that will make pages for countries (and their regions too)
  • Update countries/regions page (those who will border new countries, Poland for example)

Anything else we should do? --Icon-Poland.png Grzechooo drop a line 14:32, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

If there is one thing to bring me out of "retirement", it is new countries! Horray!
Now then:
The regions, borders etc we will of course have to wait for. I can think of a couple of other, minor things, like updating currency, but again that will have to wait. I would be happy to start making the basic pages though.
That does bring up the issue of where to have the Macedonia/FYROM/FYR Macedonia/Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia page. Hopefully the Admins call it FYROM or FYR Macedonia or something to keep it short (I am neutral to be honest, but I don't want to type Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia every time). For now I have created Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia as that is what the Admins called it in the Insider and uploaded the icon under the same name, but shouldn't finalise it until we find out exactly what the Admins are calling the country.--Martin23230 16:27, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

Translation limits....

Can we put a limit to the amount of translation a page can have? http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php?title=Category:Members_of_Srpska_Stranka_Dvokliktasa&action=edit&redlink=1 These are 19 pages for only 2 people. No one in this game is important enough to eRep events that he or she needs a citizen page translated into 10 languages. I would say we have 2 options:

  • Fix the citizen template so it does not automatically categorize non-English pages
  • Set a limit on how many translations something other than a game info page should have - English + the native language of the person.

--QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 19:37, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

I would like to change that slightly, QJ. I agree with you on the main point about too many languages. My change would be if the person has a lot of dealing with another country. For instance, several people have been president of two or more countries in the eWorld. Perhaps it would be acceptable to have English + their native language + the second country in this instance? (Or they have been an important member of the community in the country, or congress member, or something). But yes, having a lot of translations like that is completely unnecessary. --Icon-Australia.png Timeoin|Say G'Day 00:45, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
That makes sense to me. --QJ Lincoln Talk To Me 13:06, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
Im tempted to screenshot that :) But yes - that way is the more likelihood of the page being read. Sure, it may be nice that there is a page in Citizen X in Russian, but Citizen X was Peruvian. Russians dont want to know about them :) --Icon-Australia.png Timeoin|Say G'Day 13:14, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I would also like to limit these... I think that no more than three (English + two translations) articles are more than enough. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 14:57, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
I would go for this solution "Fix the citizen template so it does not automatically categorize non-English pages" (I'm not in favor of limiting involvement - be it translating a citizen page in 200 languages).... Just my opinion. --Belea2008 10:20, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
Well, That sure, for me it seems mandatory to "Fix the citizen template so it does not automatically categorize non-English pages" it's completely useless to have translated page of citizen on categories. Then for the limitation, that true that is almost case, 3 pages will be good, but we can have exception. for example, take a frenchies in paraguay, English for all, French because it's his native language, then Spanish and Guarani because it's officials languages of Paraguay, it's make 4. So, we can found exception, and honestly, it's not all people who'll translate his page in too many language. So I'm against the limitation of translation :) ~~ Azaret Icon-Paraguay.png déjame un mensaje (: 16:12, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
+1 I agree with Azaret, three should be maximum, some exceptions can be added if in some countries are bigger communities of different language readers. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 16:56, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
So the conclusion is that we will limit the translations of the no-game articles to the three (English + two translations). --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 08:05, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Standardization of coat of arms and maps

Ok, I believe that it is the time that we standardize this like we did with the flags... I believe that it is urgent that we create some order in this because people do crazy things and I can always find several different names of the same thing. Do you agree that we standardize coat of arms and maps in the next way:

  • Coat-NAME OF THE COUNTRY/REGION/PARTY.jpg
  • Map-NAME OF THE COUNTRY.jpg

Please give me your thoughts. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Click here to talk with me baby! ;) 17:09, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

#1: The flag, CoA and/or map is already taking much space from the top, so I would not add more pictures to the template. Also the picture isn't relevant to have in the page.

Military Ranks

I'm thinking of doing pages for military ranks - i.e the non-ingame ones. The sort of ranks that organized national armies use, such as the U.S. Armed Forces or the British Armed Forces. I'd make one for each page, with sections for each country (or group, if they are all similar), and at the very top put a link to the ingame Military_rank page for ingame reference :) It makes sense, in my eyes, to show the full scope of the word "General" or w/e rank, in eRepublik, when it has much more meaning than just another rank on the damage chart :) If theres no disagreement, I'd very much like to get on with it! - Icon-UK.png John F Baker Icon-South Africa.png talk/British Army librarian 16:33, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

I disagree :D the template was logically, food need grain, ticket need oil, etc,... you saw it was on the same line of needed raw, and hospital give health like food, etc,... and for "put" the same size, doesn't work on mine, by the way I had propose a solution for the size in the talk page ~~ Azaret Icon-Paraguay.png déjame un mensaje (:

Wiki Rising

Well, guys, as almost of us said previously, we're all tired of many change, but in my mind it's not only because of changes made, it's also because of the organization of the wiki, for example, Admin changes one thing and we've to change 10 to 20 pages, and most of time we forgot ones because they are lost, orphaned, uncategorized, etc... I think that frustrate many people here to have too much pages to update (We're not all bot as Timeoin :D). So, as I discuss with Belea, I'd to propose a major update for the wiki, to re-made all the architecture of the wiki, to make it more friendly for reader and editor.

  • First, we must ask us one question : Do we want a wiki with many pages ? or a wiki with rich pages ?

I, would to have a wiki with rich pages, I think we don't need to have pages with just 3 lines of text, that's mean this page is useless or can be merged with other. What I mean ? for example this page or this one or this, yes i sincerely think that these pages are useless and can be merged, because it's not friendly to navigate for reader, too many click for 3 lines to read, it's not for editor too ! see how many pages we have to update if military skills are updated !!! it could be soo more simple with simply one military skill page. It's that I mean by have a rich wiki instead of have a wiki full of empty pages.

  • Then, We must to have a Global 2-level menu, wich will be one almost of all pages (we can except 'directories's page' (citizen, companies,orga,...) That'll permit to make the navigation more simple. like that : Template:MainMenu
  • I propose too, to change the architecture of the wiki, at the moment we've a wiki with multiple trees, which they've no common point/root, for example the Military skills tree, the Menu Rising tree or the API tree are all three separate, what that means ? for example if I'm on the main page I can access to Main Rising tree, but not to military skill one, neither the API tree, these are orphan trees, and there are many on the wiki.

So I propose,

  • first to redefine Menus, and make a Global 2-level Menu
  • Update (merge,delete,..) pages, subtree by subtree, according to an architecture we're all agree.

I've start to make a global architecture : http://img.skitch.com/20101017-r7qqh3nu28mr1iwmksyigaaud7.png It's not complete because I didn't fetch all pages, but that can give you an idea. debate! (: ~~ Azaret Icon-Paraguay.png déjame un mensaje (: 11:43, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

I'd agree to merging the small pages like weapons - just redirect to the merged page so we don't mess up current links to them :D - Icon-UK.png John F Baker Icon-South Africa.png talk/British Army librarian 11:52, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
It's not a problem, as provisional solution, there is a special pages for know which pages link to it. ~~ Azaret Icon-Paraguay.png déjame un mensaje (: 12:13, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
Here is my thoughts about the new tree you proposed:
#1: I don't see a point putting the three last trees to every page about the game. As if citizens come to look for help for playing they're not interested about API, wiki community or namespaces. So I would keep those as own trees, but not in the template of pages under Game play or game interface. Those all should be different trees but I wouldn't put them in the template on pages in Game interface, Game play or The New World.
#2: Game play tree, the formulas section is completely irrelevant ('cause even admins think those are not relevant in the game play)
#3: Game play tree, military section: I would divide this tree into following sub-pages: Skills & rank, Wars and battles.
#4: I would like that main menu more if it has the style we decided earlier (the header at the top, not in the left side).
#5: Remember naming policy before creating any pages so we don't have to correct pages/links to them later.
#6 Use {{L}} in the MainMenu (prevents red links).
That's all for now. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 16:12, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
I'm not sure to understand the #1
#2,#3,#4 ok no problems
#5,#6 sure, the template is not finished, it was for example but duly noted :) ~~ Azaret Icon-Paraguay.png déjame un mensaje (: 20:57, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
Maybe this will help you to understand (I wasn't so clear): #1: I wouldn't make the last three trees visible in the template you're making as they serve no purpose in game play (which this wiki should be about). E.g. if the page is under "Game play" tree, the MainMenu shouldn't have links to the last three trees (API, Wiki community and Namespaces) --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 13:05, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, It's what I guessed, I must admit that my opinion is shared. In one hand, I understand you, and it's not really false, in another hand, some people are looking for info about the API, and a link to a portal for the wiki himself (helps,bar,template,...) seems to me important, I admit less important for namespaces. Well, we can move these 3 trees on one, why not (so we must found a name for it :D). Else, keep at least API and Wiki, by the way, the menu isn't to big like that, and it'll not take less place without this 3 links ~~ Azaret Icon-Paraguay.png déjame un mensaje (: 15:11, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
The namespaces could be combined under The New World banner. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 15:18, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
[3] Well, I've make some change after read you and talk to Belea.
I've the idea to name the Namespaces homepage 'Old Game Play' and simply put it on the Game Play tree. That'll solve the idea we talk some weeks before about make a homepage for namespaces.
I've add the Rules section :D
I've updated the MainMenu for you see what that can do, and I've use a {{L}} like for link, as I had the idea, tell me if it's ok or not, that if a translated page doesn't exist, it'll link to the english version with the english flag near. for example : Azaret/日本語 ~~ Azaret Icon-Paraguay.png déjame un mensaje (: 15:35, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
I have nothing more to add. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 17:17, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
Lol. Just noticed that {{L}} can add the flag there for you by adding 'flag' as the third parameter. Like: Icon-English.pngsampo555 is made with {{L|sampo555|sampo555|flag}}. Se no need for those extra ifexist parsers... --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 16:19, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
I know :P but I just wanted the flag on no-english page which link to english page, and on others case no flag. ~~ Azaret Icon-Paraguay.png déjame un mensaje (: 17:06, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

Update Citizen and NCitizen Templates

So that they include Supreme Marshal in the rank section? - Icon-UK.png John F Baker Icon-South Africa.png talk/British Army librarian 20:14, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Sysops can do that by adding following line to Template:Citizen/Military before #default=Private
Supreme Marshal=Supreme Marshal|

BTW, Why do we need {{NCitizen}} template at all as it's same as the citizen template? So it should be deleted (first of course change the pages linking to it). --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 13:09, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

I've generally found it to be random within the same price. Keep in mind it goes out more than the two decimal places you can see. Most apparent in low priced RM's as imports will be at the back of the line due to import tax. Just to mention it you can also post free offers on the market. I'm not sure, as price are changed at 2 decimal when you set the price on a company, and when you buy products, only 2 too, well Only admin dev could answer that ~~ Azaret Icon-Paraguay.png déjame un mensaje (: 11:02, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Formula

Formula for the influence/rank points:

[10+(15*(level rank-1))+fire power weapon]*number fight before kill enemy

--Marnes 16:47, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Hmm. This formula didn't work quite right for me (my influence wasn't the same but the formula always gives you the same influence)... --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 14:42, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

remember a fraction rank level --Marnes 17:02, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

This formula can't be correct. If you're FM, with tank skill 11, you should make the same influence as you would do with rifle (skill 1)? I tested that and by using tank I make ~350 points of influence (1 hit). But when I used rifle, I hit 5 times and my ifluence was 50. So this formula can't be correct. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 16:39, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
Couldn't it be [10+(15*(level rank-1))+fire power weapon]*1/number fight before kill enemy? Khebit 19:02, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

I have made some research and I have came to following conclusion:

I = (1 + (S + R - 1)/10) * (100 + W) * H

  • I: Influence
  • S: Military skill level
  • R: Military rank level index (Private = 1...)
  • W: Weapon damage
  • H: Hits before killing the enemy
  • Note: The influence has some random variation which is about +/- 10% of the result

It might be totally screwed formula, but has worked well while testing it. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 17:25, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Hebrew Translations

Hi Admin,

My name is Emorfion, I know alot of languages but the two language I really good at are Hebrew and Latin.

Latin I can understand why there is no need for translation.

But Hebrew is needed. There are alot of Israeli citizens in the game and if you and the team of eRepublik whould like I can take the job of translating pages and articles from English to Hebrew, but really, you really got to put the function of Hebrew.

ברכות, EmorfionIcon-Israel.png

Ok, I understand what you want. BUT, you MUST READ the guidelines, and request this language at Template_talk:LangMenu. ~~ Icon-Romania.png McKayRO|Say hello! 14:04, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
I, too, would like to see this added. Basically, the only real obstacle for it being in place are that there needs to be some "main" pages created, and a few editors. You can do that, the language will get added :D --Icon-Australia.png Timeoin|Say G'Day 14:25, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
