During Christmas of 2009, Robert Oakden convinced his real life sister to create a citizen (AmyHat) and to play eRepublik. AmyHat initially followed a different path, preferring a military career to political activities. However, around the beginning of January 2010, Oakden and AmyHat joined to form the Synergy Research Group the stated goal of which was to conduct regular opinion tracking polls in the USA.
Overview & Mission
The Synergy Research Group (SRG) was created when founder Robert Oakden saw the need for a more credible means of tracking public opinion than forum polls. This decision came after seeing President Jewitt win reelection by a landslide against Woxan in January 2010 despite claims that Woxan carried most of the support of active players. Forum polls were conducted which purported to prove this, but no formal means of polling the entire population existed at that time. Into this gap, SRG and its Synergy Poll were formed.
The first Synergy Poll was conducted on January 8-9th and the results were released on the 10th. Six polls have been conducted since then. The efforts of Synergy Research Group have been well received and release articles are frequently mentioned in some of the more high profile eUS media outlets. SRG has also conducted several privately contracted polls for a negotiated fee.
Organization
Most of the decisions were made by consensus, and both owners had access to the organization. The profit was split evenly between the two owners. Though there were no known plans to sell shares, the organization's founding document allowed for such to take place in the future.
On Day 890, Oakden and AmyHat announced that the Synergy Poll would be discontinued indefinitely as they moved on to focus on other things.
