Hovedstaden is a former capital region of Denmark. Its capital is Copenhagen, which was the former capital of Denmark.
Hovedstaden was conquered and incorporated in the Swedish empire as a result of the Sweden-Denmark War. It was returned to Denmark on January 14, 2009.
