The Socialist Party was a far-left party in Austria. It was formed in May 2009 under the name People's Socialist Party. In November 2009, the party name was changed to Socialist Party.
History
As the PSP, the party continued to be involved in Austrian politics, but came under a period of stagnation. Under the leadership of the new Party President, Stancel, a party org was created, and a commune.
It was decided that the name would be changed to Socialist Party. MachtGeil was nominated to run as the SP candidate in the December 5th Presidential elections.
On December 11th, 2009 Stancel resigned from the position of Party President. OmuNegru9 succeeded him as interim Party President due to his experience level. OmuNegru9 changed the party name to Austrian Green Party. On December 18th, OmuNegru9 resigned and Stancel became Party President again and changed the name back.
