The Philippine Basketball Association Inaugural Cup is the only conference of the premier season of the association. The tournament began on April 9, 2013 (Day 1967) and expected to finish on or before June 6, 2013 (Day 2025). The tournament is an import-laden format, where teams picked an import or a pure-foreign player for each team and with no height limit. From the semifinal round onwards, the tournament is sponsored by the Bamboo Group of Companies.

Format

The tournament format for this conference is as follows:

  • Double round-robin eliminations, with each of the 8 teams playing 14 games. Each team plays the other teams twice.
  • Top four teams will advance to the semifinals. The teams will be ranked by win percentage. Ties will be broken by point difference, then by the scores in the games between the tied teams. If the tie persists, tie-breaker game/s will be played.
  • Semifinals (best-of-3 series*):
    • SF1: #1 vs #4
    • SF2: #2 vs #3
  • Finals (best-of-5 series):
    • SF1 vs SF2 winners

Note: * if a team sweeps (i.e. wins all its games), they will get a twice-to-beat advantage.

The public voted from Day 1997 to Day 2011 their favorite players in each position and favorite managers and board members. After tallying the votes, the top two managers then picked two players each from the top four players in each position. These were the teams that played during the all-stars game on May 24 with the managers serving as head coach.
