Stranka Moralnog Uskrsnuca (Странка Моралог Ускрснућа; abbr. SMU) is a political party in Serbia. It is currently the largest political party in Serbia.

History

The party's origins go back to 2013 when the party was initially started as a small political party in Serbia.

At some point, the number of party members started to decrease and the party was renamed to Stranka lopova i lažova (Странка лопова и лажова; Eng. Party of thieves and liars).

However, it was completely restarted in December 2020 when it rose from the dead.

The short beginning

In January 2013, MarkoZivancevic was a candidate on party elections of a small and quite inactive party. Winning the elections, party was rebranded as Stranka Moralnog Uskrsnuca; however it didn't achieve much, coming to its demise later in the year.

Rise of a party

In December 2020, MarkoZivancevic ran for the Party President of Stranka lopova i lažova unopposed. He won the election with 2 votes and started rebuilding the party. From these humble beginnings, one of the influential political parties in Serbia was born. In the following party election membership was between 50 and 70 active members.

The splash in the national politics of Serbia

The party entered the top 5 political parties of Serbia and qualified for the Congress elections of Serbia in January 2021 due to the huge help from party members of Narodna Unija.

In its first Congress election, the party polled an amazing 17.8% of all votes and gained 8 seats in a Congress of Serbia. It certainly was not a one-day wonder as the party continued to perform well month, after month. Its best result was in December 2021 when 28.52% of voters elected 11 party members of Stranka Moralnog Uskrsnuca to the Congress of Serbia.
