Zaneism

Introduction

Religion in erepublik often doesn't catch on. There have been few figures that have portrayed the qualities required. One of the most famous of these is Dio Brando, God of the sand people of Pakistan. Dio was from /v/ and brought many many people with him. However without even realising it, Dio performed maybe his greatest act. He brought the true God, zaney, to the shores of Australia. It was but day 9 before any of you were born.

Zaney became famous in the Indo-Australia war in April 2008, almost single-handedly defending Brisbane (the regions were named by the cities then). Since then he was the leader of the resistance, and was one of the people integral to getting our country back. Where as once he was a cult figure, now it had become apparent. zaney was a God, but could only come to us in his e-mortal form. Thus Zaneism was born.

Zaneism is one of those religions with few die-hard followers, but if you go looking you will find that most of Australia are followers. However the religion was made official but two months ago, with exerpts from the book of zaney.

The "Aye-Ex" (ix) Commandments

i. Thou shalt remain eNeutral. eNeutrality serves well. Have not an enemy too many or a friend too few.

ii. Thou shalt not be led into false prophets paths. For empires of sand and sky are fleeting and short.

iii. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbours Gold.

iv. Thou shalt not commit admindultery. (we have all seen the recent outcome for those sinners who dare)

v. Thou shalt not make false gods of thyself. Worship no other before Him

vi. Thou shalt always help out a citizen in need. For eGod rewards those who help others.

vii. Thou shalt strive to earn the hard workers medal through labour for the good of ones nation.

viii. Thou shalt not Multi. For to copy yourself only decreases the quality of your eSoul.

ix. Thou shalt keep thy word and thy honour as you would your own life.

To follow the teachings of eGod are righteous and rewarding. You will be gifted in the afterlife. For it was prophecised in the book of zaney

"When the switch is last flicked and the servers are turned off for the last time. eGod shall take you to a better place where wellness is maximum and bugs are unheard of. Only those who are open to eGods path shall find the correct login password to this eternity server"

It is rumoured that whenever Australia falls upon a time of great need, zaney will come and once again lead his people, either from the front, or more often from the back seat.

Interview

I caught up recently with Brother Ranger Bob to ask a few questions. He looked absolutely stunning in his zaneism robe and to be honest I was a little nervous.

My first experience with zaneism was when the eGod revealed his inner message to me on IRC. He said "ranger, the path to e-Enlightment is to follow the true path of the IP to the gateway of the eRepublik world, not meekly, but with your eHead held high and login details in hand"

He outlines the main difference between zaneism and Cozzlam to be zaneism is about being a part of the community, not the game. Cozzlam is about being part of the game, and having fun with the community. zaneists believe in fun, but we also believe in responsibility and not annexing small islands to the south of Australia for fun

He also lets us rest assured that admin invited Dio - so therefore admins are the creators? I think not. The community is defined by it's participants and perhaps this Dio individual invited the true eGod into our universe [by mistake]

Finally Brother Ranger Bob delivers his second simple testimony for the morning I believe in zaney. He rescued our people and delivered us from the dark. Our order has simple commandments which if followed will lead to an enlightened community for us all

Brother Br0adside was much more simple in his response, eGod Zaney created hope for those who could not find it.

Conclusion

Zaneism is about the community that makes Australia unique. Its followers are all full time IRCers, and often part time erepers. Zaneism preaches a life of a society of fun, where we get out what we put in, actually get to know individuals and have the full experience of eRepublik. It brings so much more to this life, and that is the essence of erepublik religion.
