Progressive America Federation
Disillusioned by the United States Workers Party and the Federalist Party, smily132 and some similarly-minded comrades pooled funds to establish the Progressive America Federation. The PAF struggled to recruit new members and suffered from a general lack of enthusiasm from its base until Robert Bayer joined and breathed new life into the party.
The Creation of the Socialist Freedom Party
In March of 2009, after a series of changes for the Progressive America Federation, it was decided the party would become the first openly communist party in the eUnited States. The party changed its name to the United Imperialist Party and later the Communist Party USA. In the end, it was decided that the Socialist Freedom Party was the most appropriate name for the reinvigorated party.
In March, April and May of 2009, the SFP saw a growth in membership under the leadership of party presidents smily132 and Spade. The SFP had their first member of Congress (Bayer, ND). In May, the SFP ran its own candidate for President of the United States of America. Spade garnered a little over 3% of the vote. After the May presidential elections, smily132 and Spade left the eUnited States on a missionary trip to spread the word of Vizierism in South Korea.
Taking up the torch of former SFP leaders, Osmany Ramon ran unopposed in the May 2009 Party President election. He promised to move the SFP from its "juvenile phase" as a single-issue party to a major player in the American political landscape with a platform that addresses the full gamut of issues important to workers in the New World.
SFP Days
Early SFP
As the SFP grew in membership, a renaissance of activity and idealism occurred. Party luminaries like Osmany Ramon, Mark Valshannar, and Phoenix Quinn expanded the Party and helped to bring the SFP into a unique position as a prominent "sixth party."
Under Osmany Ramon the Party doubled in size and established its own newspaper, its first two Congressional seats, and the cooperation of the SFP with the Top 5 to repel PEACE's invasion of the United States.
Succeeding Party Presidents oversaw the creation of the Bear Cavalry, the organization of the Socialist Freedom Writers, the beginning of a number of Party welfare programs, and the overall blossoming of the SFP into a political force on the world stage.
Present-Day SFP
As time progressed many of the people who had helped propel the SFP to greatness left the game or left the SFP for many different reasons. Compounding the problem of low activity among the membership is the declining status of the New World, with activity in the world at large slacking off.
An upswing in SFP activity occurred in the summer of 2014, during the Party Presidency of Jude Conners. With a transfer from the old SFP to a now defunct Party that had fallen from the Top 5 the SFP jumped to 70 members, but time took its toll on the inactive members of the old party. By the end of Jude Conners' presidency in August membership had fallen to 55 members. To combat this Jude created a Recruiting Committee, attempted to revive the Freedom Writers, and expanded the Revolutionary Committee.
The message of rejuvenation continued into Ghost of Tom Joad's presidency with an ultimately unsuccessful bid for the country presidency happening in September, 2014.
Political History
The SFP is fortunate in having a long and storied history in the politics of the United States. Starting with Spade in May, 2009, the SFP has run several candidates in country president elections, including Robert Bayer, kyle galli, CivilAnarchy, Phoenix Quinn, Jude Conners, and Ghost of Tom Joad. The highest amount of the popular vote gained by an SFP member is %16.49, Ghost of Tom Joad's percentage of the vote. The previous highest was %15.89, CivilAnarchy's.

Political Stance
The SFP is unique for its openness to new faces and willingness to share the role of leadership with all its members. The SFP tends to attract people open to Communism, Anarchism, and Socialism in real life. Over time this trend has been diminished and many people who consider themselves Mutualists, Conservative or Liberal in real life and/or in game have joined the SFP. Regardless of their politics in reality, people of every ideology are welcome in the SFP.
SFP members are actively engaged in and encouraged to contribute to Party ideology through essays of the SFP published in the media.
10 Points of Solidarity
The 10 Points of Solidarity are the SFP's ideological platform that facilitates political organization and allow for coordinated positions on a variety of issues facing the SFP. The 10 Points were recently revived and can be found here[1].
