Special Air Service is a regiment of the United Kingdom Special Forces.

The Old SAS

The Special Air Service existed in two previous instances, first as a sub-unit of the Royal Parachute Regiment, and then again alongside the British Army after v2 British military reforms.

When a soldier reached the required strength and rank level and demonstrated excellent activity they could join the SAS, the elite service of the United Kingdom's military. The SAS regularly fought with high quality weapons and due to their massive damage potential were the only candidates for government sponsored tanking when the need arose.

The SAS was disbanded on the 26th of July, 2010, by Field Marshal JamesW, Chief of the General Staff, on deciding that separate high-strength combat units were ineffective for the British Army's manpower.

Structure of the old SAS

The old SAS was comprised of four regiments:

  • 21 SAS
  • 22 SAS
  • 23 SAS
  • 24 SAS
