The Outline of How the Newb Militia Works
So, here's the basic outline of how the program works, and how it can help you.
Step 1 - The Signup Phase
Every candidate will go through a sign up phase. Whether you're signing up of your own accord or through the Government sponsorship, you'll receive a PM from me (or one of my Orgs, Fondo Alimenticio Federal or The Training Grounds) confirming your participation.
If you do not fill out the sheet yourself, or do not enter an email address which you can receive googledoc access, you'll be asked in this email. It is a welcome email, and will begin your 14 day period of food. I keep track of the dates of each member, when they started, and when they attend an IRC session (scheduled weeknights starting at 1800 Erepublik time, however if there are conflicts I am usually on much later than that if I need to be), and how many units of food they have received so far.
Most Q1 food costs around .50-1 Unit of Local Currency. In this program, I donate 14 units of food overall, for the cost of 10.35 (Group) or 12 Units (Single), which is much discounted over the full program's costs of buying it yourself. I do so with foundations which I have set up for quite some time, and the program itself makes no money. All costs go to funding it's consistent development.
The Mentoring Phase
These are the class sessions which I entertain. These consist of basic classes in wellness, fighting, experience and overall Erepublik basic mechanics, and Basic Economic Structure (micro). I do these in two parts:
1. Googledoc coursework: There is no "homework" persay. You get out of these what you put into them, as with anything. I've laid out basic guides to Erepublik, in basic format. They will not cover every single aspect of Erepublik, but should be very helpful to beginners.
2. IRC Q&A Sessions: These are where you are free to both ask questions, ask for further detail into any one subject, or simply learn Erepublik better through social communication. I will hold classes on advanced subjects, but the IRC sessions are more for the benefit of explaining things that may or may not be understood through the coursework.
The Grading Stage
This is simple.
For group sponsorships, I present grades on how much participation I receive. These are based on attendance/response to PM's, etc, and are given to those who sponsor you. They are not harsh, and so long as you are communicating and participating, each person should receive high marks (based on a pass/fail, where fail basically means you've either ignored your messages or chose not to attend).
Closing
Hopefully, these can become larger and more mainstay. I currently have ten people entered into the program, and over time hopefully we can expand to see more experienced members assisting, with more cadets looking to learn basic principles. The more they know, the better Erepublik is going to be.
