The twelve teams that qualified from the previous round were reshuffled into new groupings such that no teams from the same group or same group ranking in the previous round will be in the same group this round. This time, the teams underwent a double round-robin where each team played the other teams in their group twice. The top two teams per group qualified to the next round while the rest of the teams moved on to the classification games. The teams were ranked by win percentage. Ties were broken by point difference, then by the scores in the games between the tied teams. When the tie persists, tie-breaker game/s were played.
