History
Italian Speaking Switzerland was taken over by France as a result of the France-Switzerland War in early May 2008. It was returned to Switzerland in December 2008. On 20th July 2009 (day 608 of the New World) the region was renamed from Italian Speaking Switzerland to Svizzera italiana.
Svizzera italiana has been in and out of Switzerland and
Slovenia since Slovenia invaded Switzerland and
Italy in early 2011.
