Svizzera italiana is a region in Republic of China (Taiwan) and its capital is Bellinzona. Its original owner is Switzerland.
History
Italian Speaking Switzerland was taken over by France as a result of the France-Switzerland War in early May 2008. It was returned to Switzerland in December 2008. On 20th July 2009 (day 608 of the New World) the region was renamed from Italian Speaking Switzerland to Svizzera italiana.
Svizzera italiana has been in and out of Switzerland and Slovenia since Slovenia invaded Switzerland and Italy in 2010.
Svizzera italiana has history of two mayors: Wazamaza, who served under the Schweizerische Volkspartei in March and April of 2008, and Pregentil, who served from the same party from May 2008 through September 2008.
