History in the New World

In Day 705, Aston Reynold was born in eJapan. This took place only eight days before the actual player's birthday. He started off only two-clicking for a few days, but he quickly caught on to the newspapers and was even invited to join the forums by Metic.

Originally, he was planning on joining ULJ or NAP, but he was personally invited to the SOS Brigade, which he accepted. During this period, he became a concerned citizen that started to participate in various discussions, although only posting when he had something to add. Randomly browsing through various country's newspaper articles and forums, Aston listened closely to what was going on in his fellow neighbor eNations.

Ambassadorships

His first attempt at being an ambassador was in eMalaysia. Due to the near-inactivity of the forum there, he only met one person, Nowe. After resigning from his position there, he became ambassador to Ireland and India. He was quite active and enjoyed participating on eIreland's IRC channel in particular. His reason for being ambassador to India was due to his friendship with Myung-kei, who had moved there at the time to assist India. For a short time afterward, he also helped AltmerVampire with his ambassadorship to the eUK (although he didn't necessarily need it, Aston volunteered out of concern for Ireland at the time). With the death of the diplomatic corps of Japan (and his attempt at restoring the old Japan Tourism Agency by merging it with the failing ambassadorship program), Aston volunteered to try and be ambassador to eChina, even though by this time there was much hatred between China and Japan. He never officially resigned, but he has since given up all attempts at being an ambassador, seeing no point from a practical point-of-view.

Congress

Aston was elected into Congress twice, failing during his first attempt while a part of the SOS Brigade. In his second attempt, he ran under the flag of the Imperial Sun Party thanks to an invitation. In the third attempt, he ran under the Democratic Party of Japan. Since then, he has lost interest in running for Congress, although he would run if needed.

Cabinet

Aston was Secretary of Culture and Events under Dokomo's administration for the month of November and part of December. He was extremely dedicated to his job and spent hours on Sundays writing out detailed articles about Japanese culture, even making and standing behind various suggestions for future festivities. He helped to host a shiritori tournament and an SOS Party event.

However, due to frequent arguments with certain individuals over the importance of culture and role play, he dropped out and decided to focus on his studies. At some point, he had also acted as the Speaker of Congress for a month, holding down the fort until a more experienced Congressman could take over. These days, he has applauded the decision to create a 'Ministry of Gaming' instead of continuing the Ministry of Culture. His best attempts at upholding culture were met with failure, and one of the alternatives he suggested (that was rejected for being 'too difficult and complicated') was to host an online game or tournament. Of course, like many of his suggestions, it was swept under the rug until after he left and someone else suggested it. Yay for irony.

Aston's main problem in his earlier days was the fear he would have to get permission from others in the Cabinet to do anything. These days, he wishes he hadn't been so worried and went ahead with his ideas regardless. Now he is more assertive as a result.

Return in 2011

Aston returned in 2011 to look at the forums and keep his citizen from dying, but he no longer participates in politics to the same degree he wants to. He supported a proposition to bring back role play to keep the game interesting, but very few players liked the idea, so these days, he only checks in once in a while out of a sense of duty rather than interest. He has since moved on to playing online Risk and Medieval II Total War tournaments with friends, finding it a more entertaining way to spend his time.
