Third Bulgarian Independence War
|
The Bulgarian Independence War is part of the Fourth Balkan War.
Prelude
After about a month of fighting Bulgaria lost all of her original regions and colonies. On the same day as the last region fell the war for the Bulgarian Independence began.
The Battle
The war for Bulgarian independence started on April 12, 2011 when a resistance began in Ruse. In the next days Plovdiv, Varna and Vidin followed. The battles were won rather easily because Serbia, Hungary and Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) were busy fighting on other fronts. On April 16, 2011 Serbia proposed Russia as a Natural enemy. Burgas was the only Serbian region bordering Russia so a resistance was started there in order to prevent Serbia from declaring a war on Russia. Both sides fought hard but in the end Serbia managed to secure the region and attacked Russia (see Serbia-Russia War).
During the Burgas fight Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) declared Bulgaria as a Natural enemy in an attempt to conquer the liberated regions. The first battle started on April 18, 2011, but the Macedonian advance was stopped and Bulgaria counterattacked. At first neither country managed to capture an enemy region but on April 22, 2011 Bulgaria finally liberated Sofia and attacked an original Macedonian region. Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) secured the battle and retook Sofia. On April 25, 2011 Bulgaria liberated Burgas from Serbia and on the next day defended against the Macedonian attack.
In the next days Bulgaria retook Sofia and pushed deep in its enemy's territories. On April 29, 2011 (the day of the final battle) Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) started a resistance in Eastern Macedonia in an effort to drain the Bulgarian damage and help defend its last region. This however failed as Bulgaria won both of the battles and conquered the last original Macedonian region.
Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) would continue to exist in its colonies in Italy (similar to how Bulgaria was left with only its colonies in Asia right before the start of the war).
Aftermath
During this war Bulgaria managed to free all of its original regions and conquered the original regions of Republic of Macedonia (FYROM). With Macedonia down Bulgaria would attack Serbia during the EDEN invasion of Serbia. Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) now stuck in Italy would attack Italy and with the help of Slovenia would conquer it for the second time.
