In 2023, the Congressional elections take place on the 25th day of each month and the Congress is inaugurated two days later, on the 27th of each month. Citizens vote for national party lists instead of individual candidates.

In March 2023, Bolivia had 1 region under its control - Chuquisaca and Tarija. This meant that a maximum of 10 Congress members can be elected to the Congress. Only two parties had actually any Congress candidates for the elections, both of them only two, and therefore only two parties participated in the elections. 4 Congress members were elected, while 6 seats remained empty.
