eRepublik Official Wiki:Rewards

Will you be updating the eRepublik Official Wiki:Rewards? That is a nice program that should continue.

I've been doing it for the last few months but I don't even know if the rewards were given for last month. It makes much more sense to be done by someone who is officially related to the game or at least an administrator of the wiki. Democr1tus (talk) 10:38, 27 June 2022 (PDT)

@Democr1tus: Yeah, will take it on me again, however, Gucio was the one giving the prizes... Need to check who can do it now. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 03:46, 28 June 2022 (PDT)
You can check the previous months, there were several users that showed up and the rewards were given. Democr1tus (talk) 06:42, 28 June 2022 (PDT)
When you do Monthly Rewards, please check contributions of Suujiku. He is always among top 10 contributors, but his contributions are not only questionable quality but also against the rules. His contriubution history shows that he uploads new/same Avatar many times a day. Here is a list of his avatars [1] - I am not kidding, but he has over 1000 files uploaded as his avatar. A Question on early Congress of Austria

We used to have pages on Wiki for Congress results in early Austria (during mappIna reign which would be July, August, September, 2008) - Beta days. We both worked on those pages but they are gone. I was looking for some info about two months of Romanian TakOvers (Aug2008, Sep 2008) as we had their names recorded in congress of Austria. Current records start October 2008. Just wonder if these pages have been moved? I have a feeling that they may be gone forever, which would be very annoying as there was some interesting info which I was going to use, but never got around to it.

None of this is terrible important or urgent. I've just seen some of your edits on early days, and you are coming up with some very interesting and very old info (all correct of course). eg., Not many would be aware that Father in South Korea was actually USA politician Peregrin... Anyway, I digress.--Sre8renica (talk) 01:26, 15 July 2022 (PDT)

Bother. An error occurred while attempting to preview your changes. HTTP error: Forbidden. Hate these stupid warnings.--Sre8renica (talk) 01:26, 15 July 2022 (PDT)
Completely agree on this one. What were you doing when the error occurred? --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 02:15, 15 July 2022 (PDT)
I was trying to preview this page. It also happens when previewing Hrvat page (might have to rewrite it... I am guilty of dumping info in there when I find something interesting. It is a mess.--Sre8renica (talk) 05:51, 15 July 2022 (PDT)
Weird. The error I mean. Not surprised for the mess on Hrvat's page xD --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 08:54, 16 July 2022 (PDT)
@Sre8renica: Yeah, it is a pain in the ... to restore some of the historical data. I need to take a deeper look as in your deleted contributions I only found a couple of deleted articles regarding the Congress of Austria, f.x. Austrian Congress April 2009, Austrian Congress May 2009, etc. Nothing from 2008. This could mean that the pages with the data are most likely still alive. This could be a good or not a good thing as in 2011 the famous wiki f***up deleted a lot of old edits. So if someone changed the information on the page in 2011 or earlier - we are doomed. But, hope dies last, let me dig a bit during the weekend to see where is it. I know that Congress of Austria are "brand new" articles in which the old data was put in as previously we had one article per one month of Congress, which was now switched to 12 months. I will ping you here when I find (or not) something. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 02:15, 15 July 2022 (PDT)
They are actually pages made and edited by HRVAT (and he has been away since eRep day 1000). Sre8renica may or may not have done actual edits (have used them a lot when putting together History of Austria).--Sre8renica (talk) 05:51, 15 July 2022 (PDT)
@Sre8renica: I took a deep look on your deleted contributions, Hrvat's deleted contributions and even the deleted pages that start with Austria, Congress, File:Aust, File:Cong, both of your deleted User pages, as well as the articles about Austria historical data (History of Austria, Austria, etc. No luck. Is there any chance you have somewhere the backup? --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 08:54, 16 July 2022 (PDT)
Thank you, Andy.
I used to have a backup of all Austrian BETA files (including some juicy bits from EDEN and PEACE forums, but that was on a 10-year-old (older than that actually) computer which had another fatal system crash, so I dumped it. Anyway, Rangeley had written a beautiful History of Austria by then, and recovering eRep Beta files from an ancient computer was not on my list of priorities at the time. (Never occurred to me that someone would delete Historical Beta Information - especially since we keep so much twatle - rubbish here). Anyway, thank you for your efforts, Andy. --Sre8renica (talk) 17:52, 16 July 2022 (PDT)

Problem with Template:HistoryDate

I saw what you created there. I went to create a few pages but there is a problem: for days of the month below 10 (only have 1 digit) HistoryDate generates a link to something like 05 July 2022; this is the work of template:Day.

But History, History/2017-2021 and others like that, create links to History/5 July 2022; the 0 is missing.

This isn't a big problem. If you don't know the solution there isn't much harm in letting it be like it is. Democr1tus (talk) 07:58, 29 July 2022 (PDT)

@Democr1tus: Thank you for noticing and reporting; I didn't event think to do the test with low dates. xD It should be fixed now. :) --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 08:13, 29 July 2022 (PDT)
 :)
Meanwhile I found that some pages in the history line use the template {{History}} and some others use {{Succession}}
It's the first time I'm looking at all this so I don't have an opinion or much knowledge about it. :|
Democr1tus (talk) 08:24, 29 July 2022 (PDT)
@Democr1tus: Yeah, {{Succession}} was the "old" one which was to be replaced with the new one - {{History}}. The main issue was that some pages work fine with {{History}} and some had to still use the succession one (I think we never fixed that; probably somewhere on my to-do backlog list). {{History}} will automatically do a day before and a day later as well as some other automatic information - eDay f.x., while with {{Succession}} you can play to connect the previously written history article and the next history article; Example for latter - History/2 January 2010 - connects the last history article in 2009 and next article in 2010. We (Uber editors and Admins) were hoping that {{History}} would become standard; but that would mean that people actually create History articles (that were the days when we had dozens of active editors). So for now - it is ok to use any of them. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 08:39, 29 July 2022 (PDT)

Template:Euro(s)

I see you are replacing occurrences of Template:Euros with {{Euro}}. Might as well delete Template:Euros to avoid confusion. Democr1tus (talk) 06:46, 2 August 2022 (PDT)

Congressman vs Congress members

Hi Andy. I think you are very fortunate that great QJ Lincoln is no longer here. ;-P

Writing Congressmen in eRep Wiki?! Really? She would chew your **** off for that. (Sorry could not resist. I had few emails from QJ about my ""Congressmen edits - when there are perfectly Politically correct alternatives. QJ: "I am member of Congress, but I am NOT a MAN!". I believe she used to bombard Admins with emails as well....) Anyway, back to work.--Sre8renica (talk) 18:52, 14 August 2022 (PDT)

@Sre8renica: I do miss QJ. I do remember that she hated it, and due to that I often change Congressman to Congress member... But sometimes I need to spice things up to make things interesting on the wiki. xD Thank you for noticing. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 06:14, 15 August 2022 (PDT)

Not sure if this is worth editing/fixing. Technically, Party Logo is named incorrectly. Party-B.N.K..png - there are two dots at the end of the logo name. Party name is: B.N.K.. It is Bosnia and Herzegovina party. I'll leave it in your capable hands. --Sre8renica (talk) 03:03, 2 September 2022 (PDT)

@Sre8renica: Technically we add a file extension (in this case .png) after the party name; so if the party name is B.N.K. (with a dot at the end) party logo name will be as it is xD
Will put it on my checklist; if you find some more with double dots, put them here as well. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 09:33, 2 September 2022 (PDT)
ROFL. OK. Thank you. I am really making lots of errors with logos. I think my 68+ age has finally caught up with me. Naturally, logo is named correctly... (Resetting grey matter. Checking brain-waves.... error... Resetting again) Sigh.--Sre8renica (talk) 18:59, 2 September 2022 (PDT)
@Sre8renica: hahhahahah. Well, hope that eventually you will be reset properly? :D Mistakes happen, it is honestly a bit weird with a double dot (..png or ..jpg) and like many things, a bar discussion what if it happens was never done... My suggestion would be as long as it is properly named (Party-Party name.format) it is fine, with one or two dots. Maybe easier to use two dots as it is following exactly the rule we have in place. One day in the long-distant future, we can determine if it has to be corrected. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 09:28, 3 September 2022 (PDT)

NO CARRIER - not urgent question

Hey, just was updating Bulgarian presidents and noticed that NO CARRIER for Oct, Nov and Dec 21 is marked as a member of the Carebears party. And noticed you updated that info... Are you sure that he was not part of the Nova Bulgaria party? Because I don't remember seeing him being a part of the Carebears. It doesn't help that he was party president of the He3aBuCuM KaHDuDaT until Oct 2021 and that is not one of the parties that supported him. :/ --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 14:28, 10 September 2022 (PDT)

yeah... had a few problems with that... Anyhow. No, I am not sure. Have not been playing for few years. Soo.. here is what I did.
I pinched info of a List of presidents of Bulgaria (numbers 174, 175, 176) - that list him as country president while member of Carebears. Here I saved the edit and then went to check the eRep election results which showed NO CARRIER as member of Carebears being supported by Nova Bulgaria and another party. So, that it was not just a waste of time, I pinched actual votes and percentages and added that into the table. I assume that info to be correct.
There is far too much party jumping these days (not like in good old days when, people would kill for their party). If I am in a small party, jump into T5 party to get in a congress and then go back. (Rinse and repeat) --Sre8renica (talk) 19:25, 10 September 2022 (PDT)
@Sre8renica: I thought so... Just wanted to be sure because I am pretty sure he was not in Carebears, but yeah, that period slowly started to be the mess of who is in which party. :/ --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 01:55, 15 September 2022 (PDT)

Congress member - another not urgent question

Anyway, have a question: Template > Congress member elected 100times. Not feasible to list all the dates, so short cuts used are:

(case 1) Template > politics > office1= Congress member|Display 100x Congress Member
(case 2) Template > politics > term_begin1 = elected 100 times
I do not like either, but what is your expert directive/opinion. I would actually prefer not to enter 100 times member of Congress in the template at all. In the template record only that he was Congress member of such country. Place relevant info (dates, 100 times member) in the text part of the citizen page only. --Sre8renica (talk) 19:57, 10 September 2022 (PDT)
@Sre8renica: I would just put Congress member of a country in the template and list all of the Congress terms in the article as you concluded; I think it is the "best" way to do that. If I had to choose between the two you mentioned... Definitely, then the first one, just because the template was never designed to hold any text in the begin/end part; only dates are supposed to be there; f.x. if you use only begin there will be a dash (-) after the text which is super annoying (to me). However, if I see someone using this way, I leave it. If there are two or three or four terms and I know the dates, I write them down in the template. More than 5 CM terms... It is easier to write them in the text part of the citizen and most likely will be more stylish to do so. Bottom line is that ... I leave some wiggle room if it is the citizen's article for some personal touch, but this with the terms... It is not like you can do it in 40 different ways. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 01:55, 15 September 2022 (PDT)

Vandalism

Please check chris jonadicus citizen page. User:Tef1 has just edited this citizen page. I see it as pure vandalism (justifiable or not is beside the point). I could revert his edits, but this should be handled with someone with more clout. --Sre8renica (talk) 20:26, 18 September 2022 (PDT)

@Sre8renica: So little editors and then they do that. Warning issued just to give him another chance. Ban follows if repeated. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 11:20, 19 September 2022 (PDT)

Is the last (6th) reward for March going to Jimkats1 or Longbaugh?

Jimkats is named however it is Longbaugh citizen number.--Sre8renica (talk) 15:55, 4 March 2023 (PST)

List of governments of Slovakia

Can you please take a look at 2010 List of governments of Slovakia. I made an attempt, see what you think. I believe February was ČeskoSlovenská Union time. --Sre8renica (talk) 17:28, 14 March 2023 (PDT)

@Sre8renica: First of all, wow that was fast. :) Looking really good; I think you can do it like that. Don't worry too much about when they were named "Czechoslovak", I am trying to find out a bit more because it seems that before the official union, they had a couple of attempts, and even during the union, it was not a smooth sailing (sometimes Czech had regions, and they were supposed not to have any...) so it is a big mess for an outsider like me (and I guess you) to find out exactly what was happening. A lot of history is lost, unfortunately. Even digging up links like this for governments takes a loooot of time. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 04:19, 15 March 2023 (PDT)

Congress of Austria

Recent edit of Congress of Austria 2022 is not necessarily correct "...as most likely Austria was completely conquered in the period when the Austrian Congress elections were set to be held." Austria has been under threat of Serbian faction in United Austria party for years. Every time Austria has a congress - Serbs give citizenship to more Serbs.

To counteract this threat, Austria (under the leadership of Rabbit of Caerbannog), goes into Dictatorship during congress elections. Result: no Congress - no uncontrolled citizenship - Dictator approves citizens that are acceptable. When they are satisfied that Austria has sizeable majority they open country to congress election for a month or two.... than rinse and repeat. That has been going on for years. It should really read: "...Austria was under Dictatorship and no elections were held..."

  • Rabbit of Caerbannog (Hrvatica) - I found very helpful, and a mine of information on Austria. (*Warning* Off topic) She also saved ZDRUG MU that was sold (I think), and took control of it. ZDRUG MU now exist under the name Flying Rabbits Elite MU. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sre8renica (talkcontribs)

@Sre8renica: I know what you mean, but that is not really according to what is on the dictatorship page...

During dictatorship, elections will be held normally. However, newly elected Presidents and congressmen won’t have any power until the democracy is restored. When elected, they also won’t receive any gold for their Congress or President medals.

I mean, if you are sure that elections are not held due to dictatorship, I can tweak the generic message to be

Results are not available - most likely Congress election was not held as COUNTRY was completely occupied or the COUNTRY was under dictatorship.

But I would double-check this as anyhow elections are in a few days. There are currently 6 active dictatorships

  • Icon-Cyprus.png Cyprus (2 regions under its control; has Congress)
  • Icon-Slovakia.png Slovakia (2 regions under its control; no Congress)
  • Icon-Mexico.png Mexico (3 regions under its control; has Congress)
  • Icon-Saudi Arabia.png Saudi Arabia (1 region under its control; no Congress)
  • Icon-North Korea.png North Korea (0 regions under its control; no Congress)
  • Icon-Georgia.png Georgia (country) (0 regions under its control; no Congress).

I will take a deeper look at these countries on the 23rd at 02:00 eRep time when the number of potential congress seats is locked to determine whether your information about dictatorship is wrong or the dictatorship article needs updating. If you are right, and they are under dictatorship and regardless having regions, they shouldn't have Congress elections on the 25th. But if they have regions, are under dictatorship and will have elections... Well, then the dictatorship page is correct. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 17:50, 20 March 2023 (PDT)

You are most likely correct. I know that Austria has used Dictatorship to combat PTO and they have even allowed to be totally conquered by a friendly neighbour to minimise PTO numbers. I'll try and see if Rabbit can add something to this... she should know. (and I even remembered to sign my comment this time...) See >.--Sre8renica (talk) 22:42, 20 March 2023 (PDT)
@Sre8renica: That would have more sense to me. I know a lot of small countries to prevent PTOs do just that, simply "lose" their regions on the 23rd and regain them a day later. But do check, I will also do the checks with the 23rd region locks. And I think that the only person who can leave me such a detailed message about Austria has to be you, signed or unsigned. :D --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance?
