The Government of Italy is the executive branch headed by the President of Italy. The President of Italy can delegate the Prime Minister to be the head of Government.

The Government exercises "general leadership of the public administration", elaborates strategies to implement the government platform, exercises legislative initiative, negotiates international treaties, represents the state of Italy both internally and externally and presents information and documents to the Parliament as requested.

The Government answers exclusively to the Congress of Italy. In extreme cases, Congress may vote an Impeachment, withdrawing its confidence in the President and forcing the Government to resign.

The following page lists how the Italy Government has been formed from month to month. The president decides what ministry should exist and its name, after his/her election.
