Special event map - as used for 1st and 2nd edition of An Amazing Journey

As part of celebrating the eRepublik anniversary (21 November 2007 / the first day of the New World), in 2019 it was decided to reward citizens by spreading gifts on the map of the New World^[1] - that is how An Amazing Journey event was started. An amazing journey will become the anniversary event from 2019 onwards.

Claiming the gifts

To claim the gifts, a citizen first needs to unlock the location on the special event map. Depending on the location, citizens must wait between 1 to 12 hours to complete the unlock. Up to 3 locations can be added to the unlock queue. During the event, distance traveled (also referred as Distance Credits) will be logged and citizens are collecting Amazing coins, and a bit of each will be deducted when claiming an unlocked gift. Currency can be used to speed up gift unlocks or recover some lost time. A gift in an unlocked location can be claimed at any time until one day after the event is over, provided the citizen has the required travelled kilometres and amazing coins during the duration of the event.

Start point

At the beginning of the event, citizens can pick to unlock any location as their starting point. Once the first location is unlocked, citizens will only be able to choose from the locations which are directly linked to it.

1. An amazing journey for the 12th anniversary started on Day 4,383 (20 Nov 2019 00:00:00) and lasted until Day 4,390 (27 Nov 2019 23:59:59)
2. An amazing journey for the 13th anniversary started on Day 4,749 (20 Nov 2020 00:00:00) and lasted until Day 4,756 (27 Nov 2020 23:59:59)
3. An amazing journey for the 14th anniversary started on Day 5,110 (16 Nov 2021 00:00:00) and lasted until Day 5,123 (29 Nov 2021 23:59:59)
4. An amazing journey for the 15th anniversary started on Day 5,481 (22 Nov 2022 00:00:00) and lasted until Day 5,494 (5 Dec 2022 23:59:59)
5. An amazing journey for the 16th anniversary started on Day 5,845 (21 Nov 2023 00:00:00) and lasted until Day 5,858 (4 Dec 2023 23:59:59)

Changes

• In the 1st and 2nd editions, the maximum time to unlock gifts was 8 hours! For the 3rd edition and onwards, the maximum time was increased to 12 hours. Furthermore, for unlocking the gifts citizens were spending energy which was from 3rd version been replaced with Amazing coins
• From the 2nd edition and onwards, two new things were introduced:
  • The second track of gifts, which meant you can now earn two kinds of gifts for one location; however Amazing journey pack has to be bought to unlock it.
  • Decoration for the participation

Decorations

On a certain location on the special event map, citizens could unlock a decoration commemorating their participation in the event. The first decoration was given on the 2nd Amazing Journey.

Tips and tricks

• Use the time before the event starts to plan your path wisely.
• Travel efficiently by using the maximum of Q5 moving tickets. Some examples:
  • 10.000km - 2 tickets - Florida to Black Sea Coast of Turkey
  • 14.917km - 3 tickets - Florida to Tamil Nadu
• If citizens missed out on finding the permanent Energy centers as part of the event, they can be bought in the gold store after a certain period transpired.

FAQ

• Does a citizen need to be in the location of the gift to start the unlock or to claim the gift?
  • No, you do not need to move in the location of the gift to start the unlock or to claim the reward.
• How using Amazing coins and distance travelled works?
  • The Amazing coins and distance travelled act as an event currency and are used when claiming the gift (once the location is unlocked). For example: if a citizen has accumulated 1000 coins and 1000 km and the claim requirement for the gift is 500 coins and 1000 km, the citizen will be able to claim the gift and will be left with 500 coins and 0 km in his pool. However, if the requirement is 1500 km, more travelling is required.
• Will the path be locked again after taking a certain route?
  • Unlocking a location will give access to all the locations linked to it permanently. Citizens cannot be stuck as they always have a location to unlock. For example: if someone unlocks London first, Paris and Edinburgh become available. After unlocking Edinburgh, Paris is still available as a valid pick.
• Is the starting location unlocked instantly?
  • Citizens can choose any location as their first unlock, however, they will need to wait required unlock time.
