naming policy - abbreviations

Why not use the disambig function if an abbreviation can mean multiple things? Don't get why we can't use it that way.

Because we don't want this wiki to get full of some disambig articles about abbreviations that can be made from every page of this wiki (it would mean almos 14000 new redirects/disambigs). No thank you. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 14:33, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
That's not that much, will hardly be an MegaByte of data. --Daniel Parker 15:48, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
Or is it because it's too much to manage? --Daniel Parker 01:24, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
It's not about the data size. It's just too hard to manage. This has been policy from the start and we don't need to change it. I'm sorry. --Icon-Finland.png sampo555 | Talk 12:14, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
OK, then I'll delete the abbreviations I made then, and change the pages that link to it. --Icon-Netherlands.png Daniel Parker 19:35, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

What to do if...

... if a Military unit changes its name? although I am new to the wiki, so far I met several examples that would find this question quite interesting. a template update (similar to the party-name-changing) would fill in the blanks just perfectly. -- Icon-Macedonia.png Destroyer S87

Create new article for the unit with the new name. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 13:57, 22 November 2020 (PST)

What to do if...

...the player changes his/her name? -- Icon-Macedonia.png Destroyer S87

Simply move the page to the new name and update the article, but write somewhere in the article previous name. This is solution at this time. --AndyCro Icon-Croatia.png Do you need assistance? Then ask me! ;)) 19:58, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
