October 2010 was New Zealand's first month as a country on eRepublik.

Party Presidential Elections

The October 2010 Party Presidential elections were seen as important by many for the upcoming Congress and Presidential elections.

Government Anti-Takeover Actions

The Provisional Government of New Zealand were becoming cautious about new parties being created and had urged citizens to remain a single party state until free citizenship had been diminished by the congress elections.[1] However, in less than a week, New Zealand had already had it's fifth party created, two of which were created just 12 hours before the party presidential elections. The government sought to keep control of the country and had posted six candidates in all five of the political parties, which were lead by Fionia and Myles Robinson.[2]

Reactions

Matt Johnson, a member of the Liberal Party was against the Anti-Takeover Project and condemned it. "This is without a doubt a PTO. And the so called anti-PTO organization Kiwi Kontrol, obviously controlled by the new 'government' seems to support this.", he said, and continued "Isn't that what you would call ironic?".[3] The New Zealand Provisional Government responded to his actions, expressing that "We face a very real PTO threat and you weren't responding to calls to cooperate with ATO or communicating with *anyone* else in the general eNZ community on the forums, in the media, or on IRC. We need someone who will.", it was written as a comment within the same article.[4]
